How many seats added by filling in the corners?

I think funding was part of it but I think the main reason was that it was easier to get planning permission for a 22500 stadium than a 30000. I think the Council needs convincing that we can handle 22k with transport, etc before agreeing to any increase. Personally I want to see the Amex filled to near capacity before we start talking about increasing the size, I wouldn't want another MK Dons type arena looking half empty each week.

I think this is spot. It would be a great problem to have!

Right here, right now
From what I understand, all the safety measures currently in place for the Amex (evacuation proceedures etc) are all able to cope with getting 30,000 spectators out safely.

IT would look great if the corners were filled! The Galpharm stadium at huddersfield is almost a 20 year old proto type of ours and it is very impressive but would look even more so if they had filled the corners in! But then again it would maybe dampen the atmosphere as more capacity would surely mean more empty seats!?!?

Only 30,000! Not inpressed shoes a lack of ambition in my book.
The club has do it in stages as we would still be at withdean for another ten years waiting for planning permission for anything bigger than30.000 however i think the stadium is designed so you could raise the roof and take it to 42000 + but the infrastructure would need money spent on widening access to the stadium. i would rather we filled 30000 seats every game. Thats why need to keep building our surpporters base around Sussex and outside Well done Burwash

Blimey... really? What makes you think that?? Wouldn't it have to go outwards as well as upwards? and then the roof wouldn't fit any more??

I would say the big issue in getting planning permission for the extra seats will be getting a reasonable TA (transport assessment) for the increased demand. I wonder if the transport infrastructure in place at Falmer is 'to spec' for 22,500 fans or they have modelled for more?

Planning and transport/parking. Would have said 22,500 was also more than enough if we were a decent L1 team. Once we establish ourselves in the championship and the initial buzz has died down, we'll see how many more we need (if any) and apply for permission I'm sure :)

22.500 is fine for now. Like others have commented, I wouldn't want us playing in a half-empty stadium every week.

And once the corners get filled it, it will resemble all other 'bowl'-type stadiums - and be very similar to every other new ground. I love the way it is at the moment - stunning and unique.
