You can't compare the cost of a ST at Sunderland with one at the Amex.

If I find a 5 bed house in Hove for £400,000, are you saying that isn't a bargain because you could get one in Sunderland for £395,000? ???

You can Sunderland = Prem Football
Brighton = League 1/Champ hopefully!

Agree with the other post tho that its better to compare with other 'local' teams

That's very simplistic though. Sunderland have a massive ground they need to fill in a less afluent area of the country. We have a relatively small stadium in a richer area so will be able to charge a bit more.

I asked the ticket office last week how many season tickets would be available and was told 18,000. That sounds a bit optimistic to me but I bet we'll shift 15,000, at least in the first season.

I'd rather compare prices to ST prices of local clubs offering similar facilities:

Portsmouth: £1.50 a season, 17p for kids.

Been thinking about this recently as I don't have a ST. I reckon that a minimum of half of the 1901ers are current ST holders. That leaves 3000 ST holders who, on average I believe, will buy for half of their 3 alloted guests. So before general sale I reckon we'll shift 7500. On top of that I'd say that we'll shift (at most) 5000 additional STs. We have to remember that a number of those without ST's wanting an Amex one will have got one from a ST they know already.

So, in total, I'm thinking that we'll sell about 12,500. Thoughts?

Imho if they can fill the ground with season ticket holders then they should, f*** holding thousands of tickets back for those who can't come regularly (of which I am one, working shifts that cut through weekends). Guaranteed money, guaranteed filling of seats and more of a reason to expand the stadium's capacity to something more respectable at the earliest opportunity.

The biggest increase in crowd size for a club which has moved grounds was Swansea who doubled thier crowds in the first season and who were also promoted into their new stadium as well.

We would therefore do well to shift more than 8000 although the uptake of the 1901 tickets suggest that estimate could be on the low side.

Depends on if we get premoted

So why we are we all selecting seats in January-4 months before we know if we've been promoted or not?

Promotion, or lack of won't have an impact on the first season. IMO. Most should have been sold long before the end of the season. If we don't go up then the following season's sales may show a dip.
