Nobody mentioned Loakes Park yet, but we must have had many a game there back in the day.

Also, where did Crawley Town play before the Broadfield? I can remember the Broadfield being built so they must have had somewhere else to have hosted our regular friendly meetings before then.

Most of these grounds had something unique and distinctive about them:

Eastville - flower beds behind goals and the gasometers
Vetch Field - Prison
Gay Meadow - Coracle
Northampton - another half a cricket pitch
Somerton Park - corner flags on coconut matting over the dog track
Highbury - brass band and singer
Dell - crazy angled terracing and stepped seats above

This place - Selhurst Depot - was once home to some classless, charm-free, Cro-Magnon throwback rabble up the road.

Personally, I think this is an improvement.

27 current league clubs, which surprised me when i was compiling my list.Favourites would always be where the Albion won. Some good memories though,

Maine Road - coin throwing on the Kippax
The Den - Bloody frightening especially 1991
Gay meadow - 2nd half crazy 0-0 ht 5-3 to the Albion full time.
County Ground - worst view ever
Roker park - great wins 1977 & 1982
The Dell - John Ruggeiro
Highfield Road - Comeback from 0-3 Gordon Smith hat trick
Saltergate - 1977 Pitch invasion and kung fu stars !!!
Baseball Ground - 1976 HT announcer a classic
Ninian Park - Smashed train windows 1979

There are many more....

I've been looking up these old places i remember from my childhood (watching them on Telly mainly, not live) and then Googling their old location to see what's there now.

Anyone else done that, or is it just me and my sentimental ways?
