Do you think that would work? I don't know if castration would remove the desire enough - they would still be capable of carrying out horrific acts. I don't think killing them would work - it would make it even harder to find them as they go underground. If they cannot mentally stop themselves, then holding a death penalty over them will not stop them. I think they need removal from society, but not so soppy social workers can be blinded by their ability to show repentance and answer questions correctly. Removal for life sounds good, but I don't know if that would have the same effect as a death sentence. Perhaps a dedicated facility or area where they can live together?

I don't know to be honest. It's a crime I can't understand, so I can't envisage a solution.

Well, I suppose there really isn't a punishment in existance that would ever adequately compensate this crime, there's nothing that can be done to repair the damage and emotional trauma these people cause. And yes, even if castrated, they'd still be physically capable of inflicting other horrors in other ways.

But at least they'd be permanently maimed, and no longer capable of carrying out their sexual urges in the way they'd like with anyone ever again.

this, surely must strengthen the case for ALL paedophiles , however "mild" their offence, to be jailed for life without parole,

That would therefore include a 16 year old being jailed for life for having sex with someone who is 15 years and 364 days.......your phrase was 'however mild', so be careful for what you wish for.

How many people here on NSC broke their duck before they were 16?

I agree. It's difficult to get your head around. It's a shame our society failed these grown men.
I certainly agree it's difficult to understand why someone would want to commit acts like these, but really don't understand how 'society has failed these grown men'. These are not victims, they are grown up members of society who knew what they were doing was wrong

perhaps the offences that can be classed as paedophilia need to be redefined then.

My wife has a housing case at the moment (she has the devilishly good luck of being responsible for housing sex offenders for the local council for some reason) - the guy is 19, and on the SOR for interfering with a minor. He has the mental age of an 8 year old. When girls realised he could buy them fags and booze, they used to let him "have a feel" down their shirts. All the time he was buying, they were quite happy. When his carer found out and put a stop to it, they told the police he was abusing them, and he was prosecuted for putting his hands down a minor's top. Sex Offender in one easy move.

I'm not putting him on the same level as the two filth above, but laws need to take all things into consideration. We have the same discussion about 21 year old girls who have sex with 15 year old boys - they are still sex offenders. The Yanks have the offence of statutory rape - sex with a minor must be rape as the minor is too young to be able to consider their own feelings and opinions and make a justified judgement.

If it was my kids, I would happily kill, so maybe I am being hypocritical when I say that killing them is not the option. I don't know how the mother is so calm about wanting society to find a solution. Do we burn it out of their brains? Is there some kind of social conditioning that can be carried out? Can they be brainwashed? There has to be answer that solves the problem, I can't believe that society only has the option of prison time for these people, people that we know cannot be psychologically altered or "fixed". We tried that with homosexuals, and it failed. However, we legalised that, and I cannot ever see us taking the same approach with paedophiles!

and how much will it cost us to keep these evil rock spiders alive?

I suggest they should have got three months hard, very bloody hard, labour and a well publicised release date!

warped beyond comprehension - my sense of repulsion is overwhelming. How do their minds work, i am not a violent person but as a Dad I would happily kick the living S*** out of them.

Sounds about right.
I expect many gays were 'victims' of paedophilia before they were adults, though sometimes perhaps 'willing participants'.
If that lends a certain normality to it for them, then they might in turn become offenders later in life.
It's never an excuse though, but perhaps how some might turn out that way.
Many victimizers were once victimized - be it sexual or violent abuse.

Manchester.
That's Scottish justice for you, still not long enough but it's sort of ok. If that was here in England they'd of got maybe probation.

Mean while in soft touch England a nounce who raped a 12 year old school girl got 3 years.

Hang the bloody sick fxxks!

I think with crimes of this nature, there is a very strong case for castration. I don't mean barbarically (although some would probably advocate that). Just a surgical procedure carried out to clinically castrate these creatures. Make them live with what they have done for the rest of their lives, as their victims have to. Its a permanent, irreversable punishment.

Why bother with a surgical procedure when a pair of nutcrackers can do the job just as well!!

Too long. I don't need pictures, or explanations, but I cannot, seriously for the life of me, understand or work out how a grown person can sexually abuse a baby. Physically I can't understand it, mentally I can't understand it, it fails on every level you approach it, ethically, morally, etc. Even criminal associates of mine, who have done some very nasty things to other people, cannot understand how it can happen. It's not a microsecond offence, it takes calculation to carry it out. I just don't understand it.

I am not an advocate of the death penalty to be honest, but I would have a hard time arguing to cut these people down from a swinging noose.

I couldn't agree more and i consider myself a woolly liberal

They need to get rid of the isolation wings and put all the sickos in with the general population.

It's a bit like capital punishment by proxy, we can all turn a blind eye to it safe in the knowledge that we're a civilised nation who oppose the death penalty, and in the meantime all the paedos and rapists get their balls cut off by the other lags. Everone's a winner
