This? Hardly disdain or swiping anything aside from where I’m sitting

Mr Raab replied: ‘On testing, we now have 73,400 test capacity every day – that is almost double from the point at which we were at the dispatch box last week. On daily tests carried out, the figure is now 43,563 which is up from well over double the 18,000 from the point at which we were at last week.’ He added: ‘Of course he’s right to say that the 250,000 target is still an aspiration, I’m not going to put a date on it.

Starmer was quick to point out the difference between testing capacity and actual tests that have been carried out.

I still can't believe the Johnson used the word "success" earlier in week, just more wrong by the day....

And once again they mention the idea of the public wearing face masks, yet no indication as to where they will come from or who will pay for them.

Have a look on Amazon or eBay to see, a) the delivery times, b) the cost, c) how many are actually any good for stopping viral transmission and not just dust masks.

If you are going to "suggest" that people should wear masks, give them the ability to buy proper masks at affordable prices, or shut the **** up about them!

Funny how Johnson backed away from international comparisons that didn't suit his narrative (death rates) but embraced the one that did (number of tests). He actually caught himself doing this. He's back.

Avoided answering the question 'If we had so much spare capacity in ICU beds, why have so many people still died?' by relating it to the 'can't compare with other countries' - when the question wasn't about comparisons, but our own capacities.

Did he really say we would have had 500k deaths without the lockdown?

What a load of rubbish, also does he want people to never go out again.

Was given 3 masks at work. Mask making became nation obsession. Some people filling their days making and selling them. Its almost a fashion accessory now. Just announced today State of Emergency until May 17th here. Gvt wanted May 25th but didnt get through congress. I thought it began March 16th but apparently its been in place since 12th.

How does Johnson justify saying that we are " Over the peak of Infection " when the number of new cases is up 2,000 on yesterdays total and fatalities are down only a hundred on yesterdays figures ?

Number of new cases up by a smaller percentage than tests increase. A hundred down on 700 or so is quite a considerable percentage drop - but it's the trend that's important. It's clear that that the hospital deaths peaked on 8 April, and they now have figures showing care home deaths peaking a week or so later.

Isn't the higher number of positives because we're testing a lot more people? Also, many of these people went for a test because they thought they had the virus. But these people aren't being sent straight to ICU so the implication is that they will recover either at home or in a 'normal' hospital ward.

If this absolute balls up doesn't convince people that Britain is simply not capable of operating on it's own as a "Sovereign" nation, especially under a Tory leadership, then nothing will.

It doesn’t help when Hancock refers to the British vaccine from Oxford, when the company is British & Swedish.
