Before we met, my missus had steak tartare in Paris a few years ago. She ate it but wasn't that keen on it.

We went to Paris a couple of years ago, and she ordered the same, forgetting what it was she'd had before...

I can see why it might not be to everyones taste but I did enjoy it, with raw egg on top. In the same restaurant I tried Head cheese fritters (brains) and I enjoyed a starter of raw beef salad. Rizla thin strips of raw beef that literally dissolved in my mouth. Down as one of my top three meals of all time.

The steak tartare I had in Paris came with what the old lady who ran the restaurant said was a "secret ingredient". After a long cross-examination, she gave in and revealed that this was ... Heinz Tomato Ketchup.

It was a VERY red meal.

I always have Filet American when visiting my brother in law in Molenbeek.

Tabasco or Worcestershire goes well with it, washed down with a cheeky Duval or two.
