5,848 was the attendance for THAT Crewe game, the last Withdean match under McGhee.

4,802 was the attendance of this seasons crewe game.

I make that a 1046 drop.

Nice work, Wilkins:thumbsup:

f*** me thats an incredible amount of people down, especially considering we had a 300k striker making his home debut.

And the longer we're at Withdean and in division 3, the downward trend will continue.

Unless we:

a) lower prices spectacularly
b) start playing good football
c) start winninng games regularly
d) look like challenging for promotion, even if we don't achieve it

Sadly, don't think we're capable of b,c or d with the current managerial set-up

I agree with that up to a point, though if entertaining and winning football was on show then I think we would be up to at 7k again.

Agree with you both, but not sure when or if thats going to happen. Without wanting to sound all uberfan-ish, I do consider myself to be a bit of a die hard Albion fan, not having missed many home games in 34 years. But right now, I've lost the buzz and excitement that Saturday always used to bring, and sometimes feel like I simply can't be arsed to go. I don't want to sit in a shit stadium, with a shit atmosphere, watching not that entertaining football.

"Falmer fatigue" has now been surpassed by "Withdean weariness".

At least we don't have to put up with it for long though. The last season at Withdean will, I think, in a very strange way actually be a really positive one for crowds. Despite Withdean still being shit, I think people will get on the albion bandwagon in time for it to arrive in Falmer. Really, it's just next season we've got to get through with pathetic attendances and poor football.

Lets hope so eh. Do you think after the last game at Withers, the crowd will be digging up the pitch and demolishing the place, to keep their seats and other souveneirs like at the Goldstone?

Question is - will DK do the same again?

If as stated in that report, DK was attempting correct the falling crowd situation, then he has failed. He also stated that he was worried that the crowd had fallen below 6000, well now we are below the 5000?
So what now is his next move?

Spend money on players and clear out those he doesn't want, ie Revell and Elder ( and hammond to a degree) spend on Murray, Thomson and Dixon

That should....SHOULD...bring in some new faces to the crowd. Trouble is we are an average middle of the third Division team attracting average middle of the third division attendances.

I wont be there tonight unfortunately, but I have paid for my ST so at least the club only misses out on a cup of team I would have bought

Attendances will always gradually drop while we're at Withers - and yes Wilkin's footballs is 10 times more attractive to watch than that clueless jock

Attendances will pick up when Falmer factor kicks in .. ie the start of constuction work etc .

I think by far the biggest issue (that we can change) is price. Look at the Gillingham sell out, the interest is still there... it's never going to be £10 to get in for every game but more reasonable pricing would bring back at least some of the crowds. The other major factor is Withdean, but there's nothing to be done about that one. I doubt we're going to get a roof now.

The football that we've played at home this year has generally been quite good.
