Horseshit

I agree that it would be ideal if all addicts went and got help. I think though just because an addict doesn't seek help does not mean they don't want it. A lot of addicts suffer from extreme low self opinion and seeking help can exasperate this feeling. I'm sure there are myriad reasons why addicts don't always seek help. The fear of losing a massive part of their life, a part that they believe is all the have. The fear of simply not having their drug of choice and the fear of failure all come into play I think. Some addicts actually believe they are worthless and feel they deserve the life they have fallen into and being an addict, taking part in self destructive behaviour is what they feel they are worth.
Also taking money away from an addict will never stop them being an addict, mainly because money is not their motivation.

Sounds like Horseshit to me. Hospital or prison?

or

Community in Care. I just don't want them living next to me.

Oh ffs will you stop labelling everyone who doesn't share your views as a politically correct leftie. It's impossible to have a debate with you, because you believe you know everything and then smear anyone who doesn't agree with your narrow defintion.

read my post again and tell me where it expresses sympathy for drug addicts. You say you work with junkies yet your post displays a very superficial understanding of the issues.

I'm wondering what you did in the NHS, were you a cleaner?

Once again, you are assuming, where have I called you a leftie ? Have you ever been around junkies ? Worked with them ? No, you're just a naive little twat who lives in some mythical idealogical world rather than those of us who actually deal with it.

Why do you feel the need to feel sorry for addicts ? Why do they become addicts ? Are they forced into drug taking ? On occasion true but in the main they take drugs because they want to get high, they want the experience but they like it so much they keep going back for more until they get hooked, who's fault is that ?

Yes, well locking them up is a short term quick fix. Not gonna help anyone in the long term though.

That is an extremely narrow view of drug addiction. Apart from anything else it is just plain wrong.

Now this I do agree with. I know from personal experience that many addicts don't trust the treatment available and I cannot argue with that because all so often it means doing AA which can be a soul destroying experience. I know from the way the government views the unemployed that they are pretty clueless and I have no doubt that they treat addicts in a very similar fashion. The trouble is that despite that you need to play the game even though you know the rules are bent, if you don't you just won't get to play at all if you see what I mean.

Stopping benefits to addicts of any kind won't cure them, if anything it will make them more depressed and thus even worse.

Yes and I am fed up with the 'commie, pinko, fags' like you

Have you ever been around junkies ? Worked with them ?

Yes, I have a brother in law who is an addict. He's been in prison for 8 of the last 15 years

Why do you feel the need to feel sorry for addicts
I don't feel sorry for addicts, what I do feel is the current way we deal with drug addiction is terrible. We don't help addicts, or their families or the people who deal with the inevitable results or the victims of the associated crimes. All we're helping is the higher level criminals

Prison does provide some respite to the people of the town he lives in. When he's in prison he's not breaking into their houses and stealing thier cars.

Yes, a few people I know started using again within a month of coming out of prison, and used in prison as and when they could get it.

Well I do feel that a retard like you needs to be spoken to, even if you're not capable of making any sense. I suppose abuse is all you can manage because let's face it you're an expert at self abuse.

Instead of insults try explaining your point of view then you won't look like such an idiot.

I must apologize for my insults to you bhaexpress I didn`t realise that you knew all that stuff about heroine addicts. I just thought you were going to drone on and on and on about a subject that you knew next to f*** about, boring everyone in the process.
I thought it better just to insult you in the early stages of your efforts, saving myself all that time in having to educate your good self about a matter I SO WRONGLY thought you were completely f***ing clueless about.
Once again please accept my apologies on the matter.

I hate it when people say "don't call them that" but doesn't suggest any other alternative.

think we need a poll of potential other names we can/should call them and see what is preferred.

my view of people who get methadone on the NHS is tainted as I hear most of them get taxi's to wait for them while they pick up their dose.

Wish them all the best for their recovery, but think that takes the piss a bit,
