You think the hundreds or maybe thousands of sick and old people who will die during this heatwave lose their lives because they spend too long sunbathing? Amazingly stupid comment sir

have to agree with you...the poster seems a tad thick...too busy polishing his nuts no doubt

It just seems like whatever the weather is, heat, rain, snow, we are always unprepared.

its like every year, everybody is surprised that the weather is variable in this country,

Looking very overcast right now. Is this just on the coast or is there anywhere in sussex that's missing this cloud?

Just because we have HALF decent weather doesn't make it 'hot' or a 'heatwave' it's called a googling SUMMER! Just we haven't had one for a couple of years!

A severe cold snap in winter with snow and ice on untreated roads and homes not heated will kill far more people. If these 'heatwave victims' want to stay in the sun all day and not drink enough water then that's their own fault I'm afraid.

All we do in this country is moan, moan, moan. People should join more gyms in January, like they say they will and sweat it out to prepare for this weather.

There was a thing on Radio 4 news this week about how difficult it is to deal with the very old and the very young in this weather. People with dementia, for example, are not easily convinced that it is safe to leave their vest off and so consequently might overheat later. Babies can not articulate how hot or cold they feel.

I would agree that "normal" people should be able to be sensible. I would imagine the TA people who died in the Brecon beacons last weekend(?) could well have been pushing themselves too hard. But spare a thought for those - plenty of them - who are less able to look after themselves.

Just back from Majorca, and pleased to get back to the moderate temperature here.

In other words you are ****** off that the the weather was hot here when you had your holiday.
So many people desperately want the weather to be crap when they go abroad, its is July, the sun is allowed to shine here as well, and then brag about how hot it was on holiday.
Majorca is a beautiful island, hope you had a great time but i find peoples attitude towards weather very strange sometimes.
Its the basis of a whole culture in 'sunny' Eastbourne, they talk about nothing else but the weather.
Peter Kaye summed it up in a live show about people calling home from a holiday abroad.
