It's sad that he has gone and it has ended like this. But when is a good time to be sacked? It's a live by the sword, die by the sword scenario with gus's love for the media. A lot of people have been moaning they can't wait another day. Now it's bad timing?! Brighton need to move on and get ready for this season.... Not fit in with gus media appointments.

Timing is everything. and It's bad timing because we chose to do it whilst he was live on tv - what was wrong with the other 42,000 minutes this has sagged on for?!! Massive own goal IMO regardless of who telling truth.

Of course he didn't.

And the club aren't responsible for Poyet being on TV anyway.

Thank you! Gus aided by the BBC trying to pull a big sympathy vote. People seem to be forgetting that later in the interview Gus admits that he knew he was going to be told something today yet he insists on going ahead with the pundits dpot. If he was that concerned he could have cancelled lost a pittance of a fee and for such an issue the BBC would have understood. From the clubs perspective they probably felt that the news needed to come out before the players return tomorrow. And don't forget this is the Gus who has been swanning about abroad when all this has been going on rather than perhaps your typical employee nervously waiting their fate.

For all those crying "shame on the club" Gus is pulling your chain. Please note that statement says he WAS informed!!!

Totally agree with this. The club cant win, People moan that its taking ages regarding an announcement, then when they announce something people still have a moan up. Hes gone, Move on.

I agree its not the best timing but when would be!

When he's not live on the TV in front of millions perhaps and the media are looking for Mondays back page still? Still, shows we've come a long way. Our club sackings used to happen in little chefs, now the nation finds out as one!

That's not the issue though. It doesnt maybe if he knew or not. It's the fact we've given him the opportunity on LIVE TV to claim it's the first he's heard of it.

It's idiotic pr. PR is about a public image. The public will think we're idiots now.

Another angle could be that the club followed the correct channels and did advise all parties earlier this evening, hoping that Gus would be asked live on air about it and put his foot in it a bit more. The comments Gus has made about not knowing until advised by the BBC if proved to be wrong, will be classed as further defamation against his employer and so an appeal will be pointless as he's dug a bigger hole live on the televison. The best thing the club can do now is to call his bluff and give a statement to the BBC before the end of the game advising who and when were advised and at what time. Great poler hand by Bloom and Co !

This could very well be the case.

PR mistake from the club whoever you believe. By realising the statement while he was on air they left themselves open for a response from Gus. Why not release it earlier in the day (fail to believe it was decided at 7:30 on a Sunday night) or after the games tonight

Brighton / Hove actually
Our season starts tomorrow, maybe we should have asked Gus for the most convenient day to sack him?

The options were for him to resign or be fired, but whatever he chose it had to be done before midnight tonight.

Say he did know, still why would you release the statement while he is on TV?

I think he knew, or at least knew it was coming and 'forgot' to keep his phone charged. The BBC made a point of saying they were in fact charging it for him.

I seriously, though, wouldn't be surprised if the timing was just a complete mistake by someone at the club.

Or maybe it was planned - I am now half-expected a further statement from the club to the BBC stating Gus' lawyers had been informed earlier, following the correct procedure.

I can't believe the club could take this long to conduct the process of Gus's suspension and hearing so diligently then go and **** it so royally at the end.

Gus may have heard he was being sacked or even told in some way but the fact is he got the official word while on the BBC. That is utterly stupid. The club has been left looking like very bad indeed and us fans get to watch the whole mess unfold with all the other viewers watching the footy tonight.

I'm gutted Gus has gone and angry it's taken this long for him to be booted with so little dignity and even less professionalism.

Whatever happened he has seriously upset the club. My thoughts are that he or his reps were told but did not expect the announcement whilst he was live on TV and that has caught him stone cold. Brilliant, do not mess with Bloom and the club timing.

I believe the club over Gus. I believe the club informed him.

Of course, it could be that the BBC, knowing they had him for an interview and working out that a sacking was more or less inevitable, took a punt and just happened to get lucky with the timing.

The alternative is that the club told the BBC before they told Poyet, knowing that he was going to be interviewed. In other words, after weeks of playing everything by the book, suddenly went insane and decided to trash their own reputation for the hell of it. Some of you will indeed believe anything as long as you can have a rant.

Neither of those are true.

But at least you've got a job now maybe interim but a job nonetheless.
