I presume it's the League Cup factor, coupled with a bit of post Olympics reflection about sporting endeavour, and I am looking forward to Hull on Saturday, but the match tonight feels about as real as Jordan's Jugs.

If we win, fine, if we lose, meh.

Feels like we are still doing our pre season tonight. I think the problem is starting with a cup game instead of a league game.

I am EXCITED about tonight's game. I will be watching it from the comfort of my lounge (BAD FAN but working 'til 7pm) and looking forward to Swindon being taught a very public lesson about the finer side of football. By 9pm, I expect to be disappointed and looking into how to delete previous posts on NSC expressing my excitement.

Quite excited about it as a long-distance supporter - am normally on the cricket field when the first match happens, so it makes a nice change to be in front of a telly instead. Also looking forward to seeing at least some of the new signings in action as I've not had the chance to see any of the friendlies.

I have to say that I am interested (excited is a bit too strong). I have certainly had a lot less interest in many, many games over the years.

Despite what some people say, this is an interesting competition, where we have a reasonable chance of doing well.

I'm well up for it. Far more than practically any Withdean season.

I can never recall the season opening with a cup game, just feels really weird. It hasn't got anything to do with the Olympics, just a stupid first game. Feels like another pre season friendly. Hope the players don't feel the same way.

It is going to be a big test, Di Canio has them on the rise, proberly a tougher test than Chelski, as it was difficult to gauge there interest! But Swindon will be right up for it. Going to be very interesting (and difficult).

It used to years ago. I remember a trip to Southend one night. All got in their end for nothing. Fantastic day and night out!

I hope we win but would rather we lost 4-0 if it assured a win Saturday. It's weird having the Lg Cup first. So no - I've never felt LESS bothered by the first competitive match of the season. Still looking forward to watchnig us tho and hope we win :)

My feelings too. If we play well, get no cards and no injuries and go out then I cannot say I would be too bothered.

Feels a bit like a ramp up event, but excited about this & the league cup - we have a genuine chance of winning it for the first time in decades

Have we ever won it?

I reckon tonight will be a tough test, I think Swindon will play a similar style of football to us but will want to win more. I reckon it will go to extra-time but we will sneak a late winner in extra-time...
