Four of us (two couples) went there for an evening meal just under a year ago. We dressed up a bit because the surroundings and the descriptions on the menus (not to mention the prices) lead us to think that it might be a bit upmarket so we were surprised to find the waiting staff looking a bit casual in branded polo shirts, which seemed a bit at odds with the ambience. The service is only to pub standard (when I'm spending £25 on a bottle of wine I don't expect it to be plonked on the table so I can help myself) and the food is gastro-pub at best. I found out while we were there that they are part of a chain and the other venues in the chain appeared to be pubs so that may explain the attutide to food and service and I wonder if the parent company finds the venue a bit overwhelming. The reviews on Trip Advisor seem to bear this out and I feel lucky that didn't have to wait hours for our food to arrive as others appear to have. We had a good evening but we couldn't help feeling that we'd have had the same experience in The Connaught on Sackville Road for less money and without an expensive taxi ride.
