He's still popular with the fans and only quit because the old board wanted him to sell Rio Ferdinand to pay for the new West Stand I think. Now it's David Gold and his porn friends. Nothing surprises me in football.

Are you having a laugh pal, he's despised at west ham. He didn't quit, he was sacked. Rio was sold during his tenure and wasn't responsible for his downfall.

"Hammers v Yids!" Oooh you'll cop it, don't you know the term 'Hammer' is highly offensive?

It is, all the relatives of the Yorkshire ripper's victims are up in arms about it.

He's safe, and that's all really. he got us promoted...just, and he'll probably keep us up...just. It's just not west ham...we're used to much more shit than this. I think i'd rather have the roller coaster that is Sir Paolo than boring Sam.

And there's the crux of the matter. People like Big Sam and Tony Pullis don't get relegated but they do produce boring football. Some clubs would stick with guaranteed top flight football but I guess crowds may start to dwindle.

We had the same problem with Mike Bailey in the 81-82 season. He was a safe pair of hands but the football was dull and the crowds started to slip. Mind you, you are not thinking of having Jimmy Melia as a successor.

Not a great fan of Tottingham but so glad they beat the 'appy 'ammers in the way they did-all those cock er knees will be gutted.. Couldn't happen to a nicer club.

For god sake, it's times like this I wish I was a betting man. Was talking to hammers fans at work today and I was asked what my score prediction would be. I said 3-2 spurs and Bale would score 2, wonder what the odds were on that, second thoughts I don't want to know.

Wouldn't be surprised if Fergy swooped for him.

If Barca got him, and completed their expected move for Neymar, to add to Messi, Xavi, Villa, Iniesta, Sanchez, Fabregas et al.....bloody hell.

He would add so much to any team in the world, so I'd expect the race for him to be fierce.

Fair dos, read no further. But in case anyone else does...

Spurs to win 3-2 was top-priced at 33-1. Not sure if anyone would have laid Bale scoring two but he was about 7-5 to score at any time. Which, even allowing for related contingencies, cranks it well past 50-1.

Bale could go wherever he wants now. He really is different gravy. Neville called it right in the pre match comment. Villas Boas is playing him down the middle because he knows that no one knows how to stop him down there. Play him on the left and at least you've got a chance of closing him down by forcing him onto his wrong foot. He's the best player in the premiership since ronaldo that i've seen.
