But but one person shouted "jihad" so Suella starts piping up
Was it one? Few signs as well.

I think it's a fair question to ask why it was allowed to happen and what happened after a few trouble makers started shouting.

Same questions should be asked of the train driver who started a chant on the tube.

Its a non story, but Braverman is desperate and doesn't like Muslims.

The police would do well to spend some investigating her for stirring for racial hatred in our country.

People shouting Jihad and signs supporting Hamas in the capital during this current period isn't a non story.

I'm not sure the Jewish population in London would see it that way either?

Were there any speeches or banners calling for the unconditional release of the hostages held by Hamas ?

Almost certainly not but there were a few signs calling for jihad, lots of socialist worker banners and a few communist flags. There is also footage that appears to show a gay pride flag being ripped down and trampled. I sometimes wonder if the LGBTQ+ for palestine crowd understand that they would (at best) be banged up for 10 years if they lived in Gaza.

Admittedly just the minority but several arrests for public order offences including inciting racial hatred plus police officers injured.

On the plus side there was a gathering on Sunday where the Uk's jewish community held a respectful vigil calling for the unconditional release of all the hostages. There were two arrests at this event ... people shouting antisemetic abuse at the gathering.

Just to add there has been a 1353% increase in antisemetic hate crimes in London according to the Met Police since the initial Hamas massacre. Islamophobic incidents also up 140%. As you rightly say not something to be ignored.

Thanks @borat for an eyewitness account - 150,000 was a significant turnout (some say it was much larger - it always depends who you ask) only 10 arrests from a demonstration in London that size suggests it was peaceful and crime free by the overwhelming majority who attended.

I did check out the groups that were organising the Palestinian march on Saturday (as I used to before attending any march because I made it my business to know who to avoid talking to!) and I thought they looked largely innocuous and advocated non-violent protest- all UK registered. Only one that looked dodgy to me was the Palestine Forum of GB which according to some sources may have affiliates with the Muslim Brotherhood and has certainly hosted an extremist speaker at one of it’s events …

Any extremist groups/those sympathetic to violent radicalism in the UK are very closely watched by British intelligence and the security services, especially since 9/11 and even those at risk of radicalisation will be named on a database somewhere (the civil liberty implications to that is another matter) . However, those that advocate violent struggle of any sort will be always be minority in the UK and they should not be allowed to scare us into not demonstrating if we want to or distracting us from the causes, or worse, be silent when those extremists are used as an excuse by successive governments to continue to curtail the civil liberties of all of us.

Were they also calling for Israel to stop killing thousands of innocent Palestinians, including numerous children?

Were they also calling for the massive volume of humanitarian aid desperately required in Gaza to be permitted in unhindered?

That's how this ridiculous game works, right?

Surprised no comments on the Breaking BBC story…..

  1. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says the blast at Gaza's Al Ahli hospital last week was likely caused by a missile fired from within Gaza
  2. He says British intelligence believes the explosion was "likely caused by a missile or part of one"
  3. And he tells the House of Commons the "misreporting" of the blast had a "negative effect in the region"

And sadam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, Libya carried out the Lockerbie bombing and there are faries at the bottom of the garden.

This information may well be correct, but I think 'British Intelligence believes' what allies in 'American intelligence tells it' unless we have a major British intelligence presence in Israel/Gaza, which I think is somewhat unlikely.

It may well be the best information we have, but I would suggest maybe a little caution given where American intelligence has taken Britain in the recent past in this particular geographical/political area ???

I can’t see what the person you’re replying to posted, they’ve been on ignore for obvious reasons, but I’m quietly confident that it would have been myopic, unintelligent and designed to try and provoke the maximum reaction possible. Let me know if I’ve misjudged.

Breaking from CNN...

Two more hostages have been released from Hamas custody following Qatari and Egyptian mediation, according to two Israeli officials and two other sources briefed on the matter.

Hamas also said it released two hostages, according to a statement from Hamas spokesperson Abu Obaida.

“[We] released the two detainees [ ] bearing in mind that the enemy has refused since last Friday to receive them,” Abu Obaida said. “We have decided to release them for compelling humanitarian and health reasons.”

One source briefed on the matter said the hostages were Israeli citizens. One of the sources said they were released to the Red Cross.

One of the Israeli officials said they were not in Israel yet. The other Israeli official said both hostages were women.

CNN reached out to the Israeli military, which declined to comment on the statement. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office also said they have no comment.

On Sunday, Israel said it would not respond to the Hamas claim they were "prepared" to release two more hostages, characterizing it as “lying propaganda.”

Yes, it does rather seem that the minority seem to be taking up the majority of your discourse.

Anybody who thinks that Israel didnt bomb the hospital must be born yesterday. Israel had dropped 6000 bombs in 6 days. Just by sheer coincidence the one that caused the most death and destruction was fired by the other side. but nobody doubts the other 5999 were fired by Israel.

As the news of the appalling deliberate targeted slaughter of Jewish men women and children/babies came in hundreds took to the streets in London to 'celebrate'. Within a few days before any Israeli response tens of thousands marched for Palestine. Within a couple of weeks a hundred thousand plus take to the streets for the supposed cause of preventing the suffering of innocent victims in Palestine.

I don't know about you but if my first motivation is about protecting innocent life/ peace in the middle east I wouldn't be seen dead on any march nailing my colours to a particular side especially where I would likely be rubbing shoulders with rabid antisemites.

The Jewish gathering was attended by victims and relatives of the hostages for the specific reason to call for their release.
