FACT; every penny we are now getting is being pumped into the falmer Fiasco.

If that gets turned down then what do we do?

Don't really matter though does it because if things carry on like this we'll be back in the lower reaches of the lower leagues.

What is you solution then?

Pull the plug on Falmer? Get massively in debt?

How would you propose to take the club forward, without borrowing huge sums of money?

Falmer has gone too far now to just give up on it.

All I said was if Falmer gets turned down where is the alternative?

There is not 1.

It's quite obvious how we take the club forward isn't it?

We sell one of our best players!!!!!

gerbil, this "Falmer fiasco" is the ONLY lifeline this club has got. Its the only thing keeping us going. Its the only thing that makes Withdean just about bearable for 6,000 fans every other week, in the hope that this is just a means to an end.

If it gets turned down then we are f***ed. But if this Falmer application is such a "fiasco", then can you please enlighten us all as to exactly what it is Dick Knight and the board have done wrong, and what YOU would have done instead to avoid this "fiasco".

I. am. all. ears.

I think there's one very important point that you're overlooking here.

JP has said that we need a stadium and that it is in the national interest. What he's done is say (poetic license here)
"Look DK, these 2 tossers of planning inspectors have said Falmer's not the right place. I can't say yes, so we'll hold another enquiry with a very narrow remit, to evaluate all the sites that they have put forward. Once that's been done, you'll get the go-ahead for the stadium."

Keep the faith m8. I am confident, (or maybe just :dunce: ).

Errrm had an alternative site in mind just in case it gets turned down!!!

As SFC said earlier we've put all our eggs in 1 basket the thing is that now the basket is falling apart.

Falmer is by far and away the best site which is why the club has put "all of its eggs in one basket". If the club were to announce a B site for use if Falmer fails they would be playing into the Nimby's hands. Use your head and stop talking mindless drivel.

There's a lot of mindless drivel on here not to mention arse licking from certain quarters.

If there was an alternative from day 1 how would it be playing into the Nimby's hands?

Having an alternative site (publically) in mind just weakens the case for Falmer, and strengthens the case for the NIMBYS. They are already desperate enough to throw in the likes of Shoreham Airport and Beeding cement works. If we go to that Inquiry without a clear and definate mandate for Falmer as the ONLY viable site, then we are just leaving the way open for people to say "apply for your alternative site instead", and the whole thing starts all over again. Its diluting our own argument.

Surely you can see this.

Very true.

However, that doesn't mean the the club doesn't have a fall-back position. What it means is that they can't disclose a fall-back position.

They will have discussed where they go from here if we don't get Falmer, it just doesn't bear thinking about.

How exactly is it getting pulled to bits?

I have said that there is NO alternative to Falmer and I haven't seen anyone say that there is yet.

all businesses have back up plans in case something doesn't work? surely.

we need a stadium no doubt and i understand that this is the life of the club, but we need a team to play in it as well as stated earlier!!

No good having a rocking ground in the conference!!

SOME money needs to go to Mark Mcghee.

Surely the club are more attractive to future investors if we are in the championship?? WE need to stay in this league AND get a new ground. WE NEED BOTH of these not one or the other. At the moment it seems like we are jsut concentrating on getting falmer. JUst look at darlington playing in division 2 with 25,000 stadium and 2500 every week!!

At last someone who is talking sense

Instead of someone who just agrees with other people and is too scared to say what they really think in case they get slagged off.

Well thats hardly news is it. The board have been saying that for years. And for reasons stated already, the club are hardly going to make any "Plan B" (copyright Harty) available as public knowledge. Thats bloody obvious.

But you are labelling the whole Falmer application as a "fiasco" as though it has just been totally incompetent waste of time and money by the club. You also label the sale of Darren Currie as "asset stripping" by the board.

Perhaps they were just off-the-cuff remarks born out of anger, impatience and frustration at the whole situation (and god knows we all feel that). But if they wern't, and you truley believe that to be the case, then I'd be interested to read a cohesive argument from you to back up those statements.

You said my arguement was "getting pulled to bits by everyone"
and now you have said that there's NOT an alternative to falmer!!!!

My arguement is that every penny we get is going to Falmer and not on strengthening the team.
To me sale of Currie is a sign of desperation on the boards part.
Thgere is no point in having a nice ground with nobody sitting in it and watching league 2 football.
That is how it will all end up if we don't spend some of this money on the playing side.

Either you don't read other people's posts, or you are just not intelligent enough to comprehend them.
