Yes NMH, the Purps were a band in constant evolution... each part (and member) adding to an eventual a sum total of unadulterated genius.

Hendrix brunt bright for sure, but the sound didn't evolve enough... he killed his legacy before it was fully formed... though the embryonic stage was indeed God fearing... Best band... the Experience... Nah... best solo artist perhaps... I'd even take someone like the Doors (as a band) over the Ex... anytime baby. anytime.

Thanks Greens :(
Any band that can write the lyric, '...shouldn't you have got a couple of piercings or decided maybe that you were gay...', must come into the reckoning!?

While Lennon and McCartney were clearly the best songwriters of the past 40 plus years, in terms of best group, there is only one contender...The Byrds!

Pioneered folk rock, popularising Dylan in the process; within 18 months leapt a million miles musically, pioneering what was then termed Acid Rock, with classics such as 8 Miles High and So You want To Be A Rock n Roll star; then another major detour to popularise Country rock, introducing the likes of Gram Parsons to the wide world.

Try to imagine, for example, the Eagles or REM without them...it can`t be done!

I hate to rain on your parade NE, but honestly, I don't think anyove gives a f*** what 'Scooter' look like.

Out of interest, have you got any substance behind calling them the 'greatest band ever'? Musically, what exactly have they done that makes them stand out? Try to be a bit intellectual, not just fire empty superlatives and call them legends. I'm honestly intrigued to see what you reasoning behind them being the greatest band ever is.

That quote is from the legendary Weekend, just so you know.

Also, on the subject of Nessaja... very few people have spotted the sample in it, have you, WFP? I'm just curious, because it's a very famous sample.

Ah damn. I got it mixed up with
"Is it a bird, is it a plane? It must be Dave, who's on the train"
Easy enough mistake to make eh?
I can honestly say i don't know. Care to enlighten me!?
