Too far from the sun
Easy 10 - I discovered the Kings Head by accident a few years ago when me and a mate decided to walk home from work via pubs (work is in Brighton, home is in Worthing so we only got as far as Shoreham by 11pm). We worked out which pubs to go in and only went in the Kings Head because it was roughly halfway between the Adur and the Schooner, but we've been back a few times since. Excellent beer and good food all well priced. And the fact that we were obviously not local was not held against us by either staff or customers (unlike the Duke of Wellington in Shoreham). Favourites though are Battle of Trafalgar for a pre-match pint or George & Dragon in Tarring.

Not Luton! Thank God
The Prestonville Arms (just off Old Shoreham Road) is pretty good (amazing beer).

I also thought that the Marquess of Exeter (just up the road) was quite nice until the landlady accused me of cheating in the quiz:ohmy:

Yep, you can't really go wrong with the Kings Head, Spiros. Very friendly place. I play pool there most weeks with a mate of mine, against a bunch of blokes who I barely know but who are a right laugh. The sunday lunches are very decent, and massive as well (£3.99). Jim the landlord is quite a character, he even lets us pour our own beers when he can't be arsed !

Top pub.

T Adams was a great Boozer he was also a great footballer and those contacts in the game and his expertise in defence would sotrted Cullip out and shown him the way to defend with the skill he so clearly lacks his positional play is appauling beyond belief he would be hopeless up against strikers of a higher level

Must agree I'm on Dyke road and they are nice pubs. I like the Cobblers Thumb aswell. Park Crescent is quality near lewis road/level,hannover area has nice pubs, nearly all pubs in trafalgar street are good. But for pool, beer, juke box and its across the road, the Dyke Tavern. Might be a dump but the staff are friendly and they have a JUKE BOX!!!! must be one of the only pubs left with one. Baskets is the champion though!

The Cricketers in Southwick certainly has gone up in standard recently, the Crabtree in Shoreham remains an alright kinda place but theres just something about it that makes it abit crap!

Surely you don't mean the Battle of Trafalgar down Trafalgar Road in Portslade ? That place is an absolute dump. I've had to swerve my car at least twice driving past that place after a fight has spilled out onto the street.

Agree with the Market Inn though, very nice indeed.

No I mean the Battle of Trafalgar in Guildford Road just up from Brighton station. A bit smoky but you can get a decent pint and a good sunday lunch, just perfect for reading the papers on a lazy sunday afternoon.

And I believe the Cheeky Guide to brighton once said of it, " there is more chance of real hair breaking out on Elton John's head than there is of a fight breaking out in this pub":lolol:

Best thing is there's plenty of 'secret' pubs the plastic people who moved down as property speculators will never be interested in frequenting - which suits us yokels just fine. Like...

- Basketmakers
- Nelson
- Evening Star (look friendly fat bloke regulars just f*** off blocking access to the bar will ya else onetime I'll resist the urge to tip good beer down yer lardass backs aye?)
- Prestonville (hint to management - try opening lunchtimes. ain't rocket science)
- Engineer (Argyle as was - best Sunday lunch in town if the landlady's not pissed of on one of her frequent foreign jaunts)
- King&Queen/Font&Firkin (sometimes you just want and need a big ananymous barn of a place for all SORTS of reasons)
- Any fake Oirish Bar

Er... wasn't actually inferring that the K&Q was a 'secret' pub - he says, editing speedily...

Make that three votes for the Prestonville Arms, used to go a lot when I was a lad.

Excellent beer, and bar billiards.

Also the following

Basketmakers
Hand In Hand
Windsor Tavern
Lord Nelson
Royal Pav Tavern

We are lucky people. My personal faves are.....
1 The Hartington, cool friendly, and it's my local.
2 Rose Hill Tavern. Posibly the best pint of Harvey's I know of.
3 Nelson. Great after the football, and nice for a quiet Sunday.
4 Basketmakers. Smashing place, check the tins for messages.
5 Eagle. Opposite The Basketmakers, but different.
6 Battle of Trafalgar. Splendid.
7 Evening Star. Always full of good people.

See me on a different day and the pubs will be there but posibly in a different order. I'm also lucky living off Elm Grove, so choice is not a concern.

Up and Coming Sunny Portslade
Makes me feel right homesick reading these *sob*.

Favourites from back home are Duke of Welly, The Nelson, Basketmakers, The Geese, Lion & Lobster (old local), Battle of Trafalger near Brighton Station (not the one on Portslade), Windmill, Princess Victoria and, well, loads more.

Current favourite here is the Hobgoblin in Roppongi. I'm off there in about an hour and a half for 2 rugby games, Sausage and Mash and plenty of :drink: :)

Then I'll probably post drunken rubbish on here when I get home that no-one will notice cause you're all at the game. As usual.
