Yes but if he can't oust Greer and el-abd what are his chances of doing that to Dawson and co? If anywhere championship club were after him, fair play, but the prem is a massive step up for most people

Look at Dunk and JFC! Everybody knew their potential, and they were patient and are both involved with the first team

Dunk got a chance because Elphick and El Abd were both injured and he had a run in the team. JFC played against Soton and a couple of others, had one bad game where nothing happened for him and he was dropped from the squad like a lead ballon.

.. for 35 minutes, you mean?

He is a 6ft 4 right-footed CB who filled in very briefly, and (admittedly) fairly competently against Saints at LB after Tano was forced to come off in the 2nd half (we were down to the bare bones, remember). He is not a LB by any means. His future lies at CB, and I guess with 3 (possibly 4 with Elphick's return) players ahead of him in the pecking order, he is willing to go in search of first team football elsewhere.

Got a feeling he may end up joining another Championship club, though. The Spurs link makes little sense, to me.

Barnsley?

My point exactly!

Dunk waited for his chance and took it, it hall has a good pre season, whos to say he won't be involved now we can use 7 subs?

And JFC was harsh, but dropped like a lead balloon? Come off it mate, he was dropped yes, but he will be involved this season

Very sad really. Not to even let the club know what's going on, it would appear we are far better off without him.

Just hope a year or two down the line, when he's playing conference south, that he can forgive the person who has given him probably the worst advice he will ever get.

From this post we can only conclude you're a bit of a dick. You have no idea of the situation and you just assume he hasn't told the club or made any plans for his future. You think he's just sat back and let his contract run out?

Also to those saying "he won't play any more at Spurs than Brighton" have a gold star for intelligence but also realise that the training and prospects of a former Spurs reserve are much better than a former Brighton reserve (not to mention the wage). However I don't believe he is going to Spurs FWIW.

There are simply too many players ahead of him in the pecking order for a contract with us to be more attractive over being in a similar situation in a Prem side.

For those saying opportunities may come up to play, they equally might not, and as a player looking at the bit part that even senior squad players have in the side it wouldnt encourage me too much. If he thinks he's good enough why wouldn't he have a crack at a top flight club?

Good young talent. Sorry to see him go.

But he will never be Spurs regular.

A desperate Levy & AVB are starting a spending spree to try to squeeze the financial might of either Arsenal or Chelsea out of a CL place. The buying in of proven and expensive players will mean just like at Chelsea, youngsters will rarely get a chance.

No chance at Spurs... with 'arry gone, do we even know if they are still interested? Maybe another club has approached him? Who knows? But he is a good prospect, so a shame it looks like he's heading for the exit door...

Tottenham will always required a decent amount of players for the reserve team who can step in and be on the bench in the Europa League when they're short. Players like Hall might be on their radar because they wouldn't play much, wouldn't cost much and would be reasonably competant if they had to step in. The question is whether he wants to play football, or he wants the easy life of a squad player nobody ever hears about. These are the important years of his career, if he wastes them as a Tottenham reserve I doubt he'll be heard of again.

Conclude what you like mate, but I do have some idea of the situation. Maybe he has told the club in the past few weeks, but judging by Poyets comments, maybe he hasn't. But it appears he wants to go somewhere where he has a real chance of breaking into the first team, that I do KNOW, so if he doesn't want to stay and fight for a place here, then I think we are better of without him. Where he ends up who knows, but it won't be Spurs. He has undoubted talent, and a lot of people thought he was the better one of of Dunk/Cook/Hall when they were coming through the ranks together, but if he can't stay and fight for a place like everyone else, good luck to him, but I can't see him finding a first team place much above the conference at this stage of his career.

You show yourself up as a bit of a dick as well, " realise that the training and prospects of a former Spurs reserve are much better than a former Brighton reserve" ... really? Someone who is on the fringes of Brighton first team, who at the end of the contract he's been offered will probably be a first team Premiership player if he had the balls to battle for a place, or one of a hundred youngsters Spurs plough through every season.

If he stayed here, theres a fair chance when his contract expires they'll be a 50/50 chance he'll be an established first team premiership player at the Albion.

If he goes to Spurs, in three years, theres a 5% chance at best he'll be a premiership player. Probably be released with loads of other youngsters and drop down the divisions to kick start his career. What'll be the better prospects then. Try and think a little more ahead then next month if you can.

So before concluding who's a dick and who's not, probably better to put a better argument over yourself, instead of sounding like a twat.

I take it by your comment your obviously close to him, but I still think at this time in his career he'll be far better off here, then dropping down the leagues to get himself nearer a first team squad. He's only 20 FFS!

Do we even know they were interested? If there was any chance of him ever going to Spurs, I think he'd have been there by now. Unless of course he's holding out for a bigger team.....

Hmmm... I seem to recall that Spurs showed interest during 'arry's reign... hit the press I believe, not just Football Rumous!
