Thought it was very good. Spent half the time trying to figure out where the various places where but that's standard for something set in Brighton. The girls flat was those monstrosities built behind the station. The Victims flat was Chichester Terrace way? Mark's flat was next to legends and the Pier was well the pier.

Made the old place look really good I thought.

I have not read the books so went in with open eyes, yes, they messed up on the locations but I bet that happens in any TV show filmed in a specific area..overall it was very good, a bit grim due to the violence but, that's what you get in a murder/mystery prog.

I feel sorry for the character at the centre of the story who goes out on his stag do and rather has a time he will never forget!

I will def watch the series though, John Simm excellent as always.

Some pretty shonky acting from some of the cast.
John Simm is always watchable though. As opposed to Ian Beale who played him onstage ha!
Pretty entertaining stuff though, and always good to spot familiar places.

When it started and they talked about the shoes and the medium I was thinking I’ve seen this before. It all seems really familiar. Then I looked in my bookshelf and saw I had the book and have read half of it. I gave up because I couldn’t stand how poorly written it was but the series is watchable.

The inside wasn't All Saints nor the outside. The road in Patcham and car access leads you to the church entrance on the
left hand side, not the right hand side as in the programme. But, hey, there were many inconsistencies in the programme,
so it didn't surprise me about this laziness on the production team's behalf.

I think laziness is a bit harsh! There were quite possibly/probably reasons why they filmed and put in what they did.

Thanks for the compliment, but after my time. Hard to be sure about the dates, but guessing between about 64 and 68 for me. I loved it so much, it seemed like a long time. Clifford Dann, the Estate Agent, was choir master and organist. He had a Austin Princess Van den Plas R which seemed to me to make him the height of wealth and sophistication. Ken Brookes was his deputy and drove a Triumph Herald. Less impressive. Charlie Hazelgrove was the grumpy verger with a heart of gold and mints in his pocket in case you felt a bit dicky tummy at church. Choirboy pay, especially for weddings, half a crown each wedding and up to 3 or 4 on a good Saturday, kept me in 45's, Airfix kits, Jamboree bags and fireworks. Good times.

Only got half way through so far, found it a bit disjointed tbh. Not grabbing me yet, but I guess they are scene setting. The fact that I’ve read the book makes me more critical I guess, films/series very seldom live up to the book though

Didn’t watch but my friend rung me with excitement that she saw her beach hut on Hove promenade !

That's fantastic.
That is just the sort of thing that makes TV and films shot locally all that bit more exciting for the locals.
Great stuff.

The scene you are talking about seemed ok to me. The hen party was at Legends Hotel on the corner of Camelford Street. When the detectives were in the flat the Palace Pier was behind Branson and you could see the wall of the marina behind Grace.

The flat was in the Van Alen building.

Yes they did a good job of feeling like it was set in Brighton but not letting the Brighton side of things dominate too much,which can't of been easy as it's such a beautiful city.
Even the actors made it feel like a Brighton based show.
The chap who played grace was excellent,and despite being the first episode he made me quite like the character and gives a good idea of what he's all about.
But it will be interesting to see if future episodes show a bit more of the city and also show more of the "characters"of brighton,which I hope will be the case.
But so far very enjoyable.

quite enjoyed it and better than Cuffs etc.

recognised a few locations e.g. Braemore road, The balcony scene was at the Van Alan Building, the office was down St John's Road, Hove. Couldn't recognise what block it was in New England Quarter that overlooked St. Bartholomew's Church though.

I'm guessing the Medium lived on the promenade in Peacehaven but cant be arsed to locate the exact house.

Quite liked the developments were all local places that we recognise but the rest of the country wouldn't have a scooby.

I havr to say I almost gave up on it jut now but stayed til the end. Once the novelty of location spotting wore off, it was all a bit second rate. Don't think I'll bother with the rest of them.

Right at the very end of the cliff top gravel road...pretty much next to the steps down to the beach, and the open land where they filmed the pilot for Mr Bean (the famous blind man / getting changed into swimming trunks scene)

He wasn't in the van when it crashed – they left him, then drove away and crashed after.

Exactly. It is a TV drama not a Crimewatch reconstruction, they are free to choose the locations that work for filming/look good aesthetically.
