Contract talks took place at the County Ground, Hove on Tuesday 14 September and Sussex County Cricket Club would like to release the following information:
Murray Goodwin has been offered a new one-year contract, keeping him with the Club until the end of 2005.
New contracts have been offered to Mark Davis, Jason Lewry, Carl Hopkinson, Michael Yardy, Chris Nash and Neil Turk. Nash and Turk are graduates from the Sussex Academy.
Two players were not offered contracts for 2005; Tony Cottey and Kevin Innes.
Extensions have been offered to Richard Montgomerie, Robin Martin-Jenkins, Mushtaq Ahmed, Luke Wright and Tim Ambrose.
Sean Heather has been offered three-month extended trial with SCCC from April – June 2005. Sean has come through the Sussex League, playing for Eastbourne and has represented the Second XI.
Peter Moores, Director of Cricket, said:
“It is very sad that Tony will not be playing for the Club in 2005. He has been a fantastic servant of the Club and his contribution both on and off the field has been an integral part of the Club’s recent successes.
“It is a shame for us to bid farewell to Kevin. He is an extremely talented cricketer whose commitment to the Club has always been 100%. Kevin has had limited opportunities at 1st XI level this year and we wish him every success in the future.
“We are delighted to be able to offer Murray a new one-year contract. His record for Sussex is outstanding and we hope he will agree to commit his future to the Club.
“Chris Nash and Neil Turk have both been offered terms for 2005. Both were products of the Sussex youth system and more recently the ECB Sussex Academy. It is a testament to the quality of our coaching system and youth structure that these two fine Sussex-bred cricketers have made it to the County squad.”
