It depends on who cheated on who. If Ray Parlour cheated on his wife then he deserves to be roasted, if his wife cheated on him then she should not get a penny.

It doesn't work out that way.

It also depends on who has to look after the children. There are 3 kids here whose welfare is at stake too.

'In sickness and in health', she should f***ing help him through it that was part of her wedding vows....

And what about his vows? Why is it OK for him to ignore his promises to support her?

I'm entirely on her side here. People are talking nonsense about divorces favouring women, there have been numerous studies to show that women suffer more than men (just talking financially here, although I'm sure emotionally too).

The courts have been heavily biased in favour of men, looks like things are getting a bit fairer.

Yorkie.
I don't think anyone would begrudge the ex- Mrs parlor for the deal that she struck for the settlement.......................... if that's what she's entitled to then thats what shes entitled to.........

But then to go after a percentage of future earnings just tseems to be twisting the knife

I agree. I don't think that what she is doing is right.

My posts were more along the lines of what Gwylan is saying, from my own experience.

Parlour won't be earning that sort of money much longer anyway.

How old is he?

its just crap, it makes me really angry - how was she entitled to that much money anyway? coping with a near alcoholic is never a nice experience to say the least, but to get enough money to never work again, how is that justice?? Is just a money grabbing COW who just needs a slap.

and relax....

Mrs Parlour, 33, had been receiving £250,000 a year personal maintenance from her ex-husband following their divorce in 2002.

That will now be increased to £406,500 for the next four years. The figure will be reviewed at the end of this period.

The award is in addition to two mortgage-free houses worth more than £1m and a £250,000 lump sum.

Mr Parlour, 31, also pays £12,500 a year for each of their children, aged eight, six and four.

I would be more understanding / appreciative if she had guaranteed that the majority of the settlement money would be allocated to the chiuldren's upbringing and welfare

I agree. It could be put in trust for their education at Uni for example.

Spot on BAG.

Just because she happens to be married to someone who has the ability to earn a lot of money doesn't mean that, because the realtionship hasn't worked out, she should be entitled to his future earnings.

If she had married a 'normal' person, on average wages, she would have only got a small settlement, plus maintenace for the kids.

Even without this vast amount of additional money that she's getting, she was still made for life with the property ane maintenance.

It's women like this that cause all of the resentment from men. It should be fair. This is just not fair.

This judgement should not be viewed as a precedent for Joe Public. This was seen to be a special case for special circumstances (let's hope it's true).

Lastly point. As Yorkie rightly points out, there's no need to be so insulting to women in the posts. They're not all the same.;)

Do not agree with this AT ALL. In most divorce cases does the house, kids etc etc go to the male or female ?

Even if the female runs off with another male the husband is lucky to get a bedsit to live in.

Of course Mrs Parlour is entitled to a reasonable amount to support her children but COME ON - 2 houses and around half a million a year ?? seriously ?

Children can have the choice and quite often they do choose the father. He then will get the house.

Either way when the children are old enough to leave school the house is sold and split 50/50. Or 60/40 if you are lucky.

The problem then is that you are usually quite a bit older with only half of what has been paid off the mortgage and equity to find somewhere else to live.

That will autmatically mean that both will have to downgrade.

Surley Ms. Parlour could pay for her childrens upbringing buy renting one of these homes. Or selling one of them and putting the money in a good high interest account.

I am also sure that renting the other house could grant her a very good income for herself, and the original personal sum could be used for the children.

I am sorry to say this, but on the face of it, Ms. Parlour just sounds greedy.

If you look at the settlement terms in detail Mrs P is getting her share of his income for the next four years only. At the end of that period the court will make a fresh decision about the settlement thereafter, when Parlour's earnings are likely to be from selling the Big Issue or serving Big Macs.

She has also been instructed by the court to invest the money from Parlour. So she is not allowed to spend all of it on typical Essex girl things (i.e. shoes and handbags). The money is invested on behalf of her and the kids futures, which seems fair to me.

Parlour earns £24,000 a week, so don't feel too sorry for him, even if he does look like Charlie Dimmock.

Why are men so aggressive to women?

We have been having a discussion about divorce and maintenance after marriage and women have been called bitches, cows, not trustworthy etc.

Could the answer be Yorkie that this thread is just a feeble excuse for the biggest load of mysogenistic drivel this side of a 1970s stand-up comedian?

Why are the men of NSC so bothered about this judgment? Guess what guys, it probably won't affect you. It's not as if the Family Law Courts are that interested in dividing up PORN COLLECTIONS.

Good luck to Karen, she's bound to spend the money more wisely, like on the kids and stuff, than Charlie Dimmock would.

Thinking about it, 90 per cent of his income probably wouldn't have been enough reward for actually having to have had sex at some point in the past with that ugly, overpaid git.

Nice one. Made me chuckle after a hard day's slog at work.

I'm willing to bet Karen Parlour is worth that settlement. Then again, I didn't sit through the evidence in court so who knows. Presumably there is some means of appeal to Ray Parlour, it'll be interesting to see if he does appeal if he can...

I for one feel sorry for her.

In their wedding photo, she was frankly an horrendous old bloater.

A few years later, the poor girl looks at least a stone lighter which can only be due to the dreadful stress Ray has put her through, and the hardship of having to survive on little more than a quarter of a million a year.

Now perhaps she can enjoy a return to the good life she clearly so richly deserves.
