To be honest I think that giant flags have had their day. I prefer the look of the smaller banners decorating the stadium throughout the game. I think the NSK ones are great shame that you can only see half of them from the west stand.Would be nice if they could be more visible to the rest of the ground.

As for pre-match displays I don't think you can beat the flag waving we had before the donny game, that was spectacular. All we needed was a few hundred toilet rolls being LUZZED on to the pitch and it would have been perfect.

ok, it's not a great attempt at making the pic, but this looks tiny in wsu - flags need to be fire resistant now too. i think it would look good, but it would have to be MASSIVE not to look silly

I've just got a quote for a 2-colour printed flag (60' x 30' - about the same size as the REMF flag) from the flag maker whose web address every Google search seems to refer back to.

It weighs 34.5kg

£4,720 +VAT.

Hmmmmmm, that's a lorra lorra dosh ain't it? I wonder if The Club would be willing to chip-in for this 'massive advertising opportunity'? 'Twould be a rather handy way of avoiding the near-grand's worth of VAT too...

I thought flags were for "plastics". Or so I was told on here after Donny.

Yep, that's a very good shout. Mind you, perhaps it might be better to charge everybody (who wants to contribute) a fiver & let the REMF have any excess taken?

Btw, which stand would this proposed giant flag be for??

That's a lot of money, if we do decide to go down the 'Giant Flag' route again I would suggest getting the thing insured this time.

i did like that massive brighton kit. who kept that? could we use it?

edit: unless this is a north stand idea, in which case, as a WSU-ite, i shall shhh (not on match day, I said I'm in WSU, not the east stand)

No chance of getting that back off of Guy Butters

The place to get this made for cheap is in China. I'm also a fan of the Chicago Fire (yeah, there is football here in the US), and just got a 240'x65' flag made for our supporters. Total cost is about $8k, or £4,800. It's lightweight and fire retardant as needed. We had a giant flag before (220' wide) but it was too heavy and got smelly: we're using a lightweight, almost mesh-like material this time.

Poland is also an option but it's a little more expensive there than China.

If anyone is serious about this looking into this PM me and I can help organise it, at least as best I can from 4,000 miles away. At the least I can get a quote. Here's a picture of our old flag so you can see what I'm talking about:

Personally I think it's something fans should fund, not the club. It would continue the DIY tradition at the Albion.

Storage is the nightmare part, so there would have to be a committed crew to keep it safe and in good condition. Storing it at the stadium is the obvious option - but make sure the club know what they're doing, the flag pictured above (paid for by fans) was lost by the Fire in 2008.
