It astonished me that we've gone through a pretty harsh recession, and yet still the Tories haven't managed to convince a majority of the electorate that they're worthy of a vote.

What does that say about David Cameron? What would have to happen for people to turn back to the Conservatives? Just curious like, as you'd have thought people would have turned right against Brown.

theres not much mystery, its simple lack of policy. i think people like cameron, but theres not enough in the conserative manifesto to make people want to vote Tory.

anywho, on the exit poll im very surprised the Liberals are down and 255 for Labour is a bit of a coup. though interesting, Labour and Liberals couldn't form a majority either.

The Conservative number of seats , 307, will go up as they WILL join with the UUP in Northern Ireland.( and possible DUP party. )

and don't forget any shin fain (sp) MPs don't count. Because they don't turn up.

PS. Did David dimbum say that (if the exit poll was true) this is the biggest swing since 1931?

If the number of Lib Dem seats is as low as predicted, Clegg will be DESPERATE to do a deal with whoever will offer him a deal that involves electoral reform.

CMD will think he'll have enough of a mandate to avoid having to do any deals.

Welcome to a Lib/Lab government ... next week.

If the poll is right, Labour and LibDem together won't have a majority....

255 Lab + 59 LD = 314 = 12 short of a majority for Lab / LibDem
307 Con + 8 UUP = 315 = 11 short of a majority for Con / UUP

f*** knows what's going to happen.

May & Mandelson already getting cross with each other because we all know what's going to happen in the first instance: Labour are going to arse lick the LibDems.

Plaid Cymru, SNP and the Ulster parties must be absolutely LAPPING this up and PRAYING that the poll is spot on.

whats that about people turned away from voting in Cameron's constituency?

From the Beeb...

There are reports of long queues of people still waiting to vote in some parts of the country after the most closely fought election in decades.

Polls closed across the country at 2200 BST but in Sutton Coldfield a BBC reporter says there are plans to lock voters inside the Mere Green Polling Station because the queues are currently so long.

Could be that plenty of people are unable to vote.

Yes, biggest loss of seats since 1931.

David Cameron WILL get the first chance to form a coalition, as he is the largest party.

Hung Parliament means that Brown will be Prime Minister unless he will hand in a resignation to the Queen and will be noted on the Queen's Speech. If Brown does hand in a resignation, then Cameron will have the chance to form a coalition.

independence is the only policy SNP and PC will trade on and thats going to kill the chances of future majority Labour government if they do.
