Get Garry Hart on the Legends wall at the AMEX - PetitionBuzz
Obviously, I'll get hugely flamed for this but .... is this not an example of how lightly the term "legend" gets bandied around these days?
Loyal servant - check.
Gave his all - check
Do I have proper man love for the guy - check
Legend - naah, that's going too far.
I agree that there can be guys whose star was a short-lived shooting variety, maybe achieved less overall for teh club than Harty, but along the way the goal(s) they scored were absolutely crucial, maybe a single MASSIVE goal is down to them and therefore Reinelt and Knight have a case purely on Herefore and Cardiff alone, but Hart doesn't have one of "those goals" forever cast in my mind. Sorry, but the first goal at Amex in the Sussex Senior Cup isn't that goal for me. His status is therefore based on longevity and effort, which isn't legend status for me.
Great guy, tremendous servant, love the man deeply, but a legend? Not up there with Peter Ward et al for me.

Done. I would of liked the additional plea of removing Leon Knight from the said wall.
I know where you're coming from, but you could easily say the same thing about Peter O'Sullevan who I think is a 'legend' for his length of service (like Hart).Obviously, I'll get hugely flamed for this but .... is this not an example of how lightly the term "legend" gets bandied around these days?

If there is a single defining moment for 'legend' in the 13 years that OGH played for us, then it was the Bristol Rovers game under Slade when we did the 'Great Escape' If we hadn't stayed up, then we wouldn't have got Poyet.
Would happily sign it but not signing up to twitter sorry
