Down another 3% and counting today. When will it ever end ?. Nearly 7000 in the late 90's and now 12 years later worth 2/3 of that. Money in the stock markets appears to be a shocking waste of money. Why on earth would anyone bother ?.

it wont or have you done NO research into this matter?

even the controlled bbc let an interview slip last week.

lol....yep, borrow 100k of money that does not exist, just a number on a screen - then pay back 300k......great idea.

i gotta better idea - learn to rely on yourself for all aspects of your life, and get gold.

it is possible that anon (hackers group) are controlled from within so watch for 10/10 as more cash will probably be stolen from ppl.

It is all about timing & seeking Independent Financial Advice (& yes I am an IFA!).

All markets have their right time for investing, Cash, Property, Equities etc

It's all about timing - when to buy & when to sell!

Or opt for pound cost averaging. Invest a sum each month. When unit prices are cheaper your direct debit will buy more units.

shame noone has told Anonymous that the trading is all on private networks. even if they managed to infiltrate a broker, it could be isolated and cut off in seconds. so they might attack the website of the NYSE, nice PR for them, but wont do anything. doubt they have the courage or the power anyway, we'll see if they pull of thier Facebook hack first.

and funny how the BBC clip has got all the conspiracy world abuzz, suddenly the Beeb is a usful source of information. no matter its personal opinion, it was on bbc so must be true???

Leeds - but not the dirty bit
All the time that you can make money by selling shares in vast amounts that you do not own, in order to drive the price down, then 'buy them back' when they are cheaper, .....then market will fall.

Perhaps I should try that with ipads, or would I end up in clink ?

it still goes thro certain DNS routes....lets see, i think anonymous are created by the powers that be anyway (80% swaying).

even you can see the bbc interviewers were shocked at his comments. it does not take much research to see that GS is the king in the whole money system - not from the bbc, but from personal research.

nope. one of the benefits of private networks, is you dont need to use public systems.

if you say so, personally i dont think a bank ranked somewhere in the 20th's is the king of the money system.

You would be mad to invest lumps in a volatile market such as one we have seen in the last 3 years....as someone has already said, monthly or even quarterley investments benefit from pound cost averaging and even in a falling market one can achieve growth. The problem is that people panic when very often these times are some of the best 'buying' oppertunities.

And yes, seek advice - don't just throw money into pensions, ISA's, bonds and unit trusts and hope for the best. Fund managers are like footbal managers, you get some good ones and you get some crap ones....the good ones also sometimes leave so if you are invested in the same fund for twenty years, the chances are the dynamics of the fund have changed several times!

if you do not know that GS is the most profitable "investment" bank, then i question your research.

if you think profit, rather than assets controled, is the best measure of a bank's influence, then i question your research and understanding. if profit is your metric Apple or Microsoft are more powerful than Goldman.

St Jobs probably is actually :lolol:

i never really understand the obsession with Goldman and JP Morgan amongst a certain group. i mean, i do understand the historic significance within the US economic history and im aware of Goldmans defacto role as training ground for so many in financial world. but theres a good 20 banks considerably larger and more influential, especially in the wordl outside the US, where increasingly things matter more. time to look for new sources of research?

I have no idea if that Trader is right or wrong.

However, I will always be suspicious of someone who says that the markets are in meltdown whilst also saying that he has dreamt about them going into meltdown for years, because he will make lots of money from it.

power of the economy is the metric.

Great times for the value investor, low PE, high yield. The coming months could be the best opportunity in a generation. The FTSE100 isn't just about the UK, its global. In value terms its less than the price of the year 2000 peak

The smart money will soon be moving into the market...

im reminded that there was also a peak of ~6700 in Oct 2007. dont know why you overlooked that whole extra cycle in between 1999 and now. some would say thats half the problem, we didnt have a recession in the early 00's when the FTSE fell to ~3500, so we're getting a deeper one now.

on that point, we are 40% up on the 2003 bottom, or 30% up on the feb 2009 bottom, so its very much depend on how you read the information.
