I'd rather have Fred Flintstone.Jesus how are the club going to convince people he was first, second or even fifth choice..He makes Hughton sound wonderful...Two promotions from that hotbed of football, that is the French lower leagues...This would be a disaster of epic proportions.We got 13players atm, he is hardly going to have them queuing up to sign up.

He would have got a comparatively poor team promoted from a comparatively poor league, TWICE.

Unless they bought the title, Citeh-style, he has the skills to gain promotion in a league of his peers, irrespective of the country/league/division.

Hantz did a brilliant job at Bastia taking over the club at the lowest point in their history and sticking around when he could have walked away from a club on the brink of bankruptcy. He is universally loved by their supporters for his loyalty and commitment, not just because he won two titles in a row.

Bastia is an extremely difficult context to manage in - it may seem like a small club by British standards but crowds of around 15,000 are impressive for the size of the town. The level of passion is high, too. As are expectations - they've reached the UEFA Cup final and have won the French Cup. Hantz coped with this context and has left Bastia in a very healthy state - the best for 30 years.

He also did excellently at Le Mans at the start of his career, getting the club to the top flight for the first time in its history. What worries me slightly is his spell at Sochaux where he failed badly but he was only there for a few months.

I think he'd be a bold and interesting appointment and note the last line form L'Equipe - it's always been his dream to manage in England.

You do realise Brighton is closer to France than Stoke.
From the centre of Brighton you can be in the centre of Paris quicker than the centre of Stoke.
On a Friday pm to can probably get to Nice quicker than Stoke, from Brighton...

Good point well made.

They've been living in Corsica for the last four years which is probably harder to cope with transport-wise for a mainland Frenchman than living in Brighton.

Hantz is from Rodez which is a town in the south-west between Toulouse and Clermont-Ferrand.

France Football had it that he was certain to go to Reims too. I wonder what he's going to say to Reims at this meeting

Im sure TB will make the right decision for the club, whoever it turns out to be. Having gone through each candidate`s CV with a fine tooth comb, spoken at length to them about their footballing philosophy, visions for the future, policy on youth, etc, etc, TB will be in a much better position to decide who fits HIS criteria much more than us lot who, quite frankly, know sweet funk all about any of them other than what we can find trawling the internet. Its Tony`s club and investment after all, have faith that he will make the right decision.

Not to sound pessimistic but If we go get this guy Is It just goes to show we're dong things on the cheap again. When's the club going to realize. You're not going to get anywhere on a shoestring. Sure there was Palace but they got LUCKY.

Facts are all well and good yeah, but he's a foreigner yeah, and after he gets us to the playoffs, we all know we'll lose right, because he doesn't have the passion that the English managers have got.
