Complete and utter total rubbish. The CR8 postcode around Purley, has also been voted one of the most desirable places to live. Huge houses with pools, private schools and Margaret Roper Primary School, the greatest school in the world!

Yes I know the area very well and in fact went to Margaret Roper. Yes there is very nice housing in Purley, but it is a cultural desert. There are no decent pubs, no interesting shops, the cinema was knocked down long ago, and no restaurants apart from the usual curry house. And of course the nearest football club play in a ramshackle old dump. For "entertainment" and shopping you have to go to...that's right Croydon.

A Croydon Council spokeswoman added the ticket was not "Croydon's revenge for disparaging remarks allegedly made about the town".
