Southampton, is universally known round these parts, as The Rose Bowl. As far as I'm corncerned, that is the name of the venue, and the temporary sponsor name Ageas is to be rightly ignored. (See Kia Oval, Wonga Trent Bridge, for further details)

I will happily use Rose Bowl from now on but 'universally known around these parts' deserves some pedantry.

Looking good for England despite losing Ballance late on, if we can post a minimum 300, that should deliver us the game.

Having listened to it all day yesterday I was really looking forward to watching the highlights on tv, I must have watched them about 4 times last night. That first 6 overs where they're Anderson and Broad are just moving the ball all over the place was incredible. At times it made me laugh out loud because I was thinking about how terrifying it must have been facing that. What on earth could you have done?

I would love to see Chris Jordan cash in on a chance for a proper bat today... hopefully he can get over the tricky first few overs and make a score.

and with Bell gone and still trailing by 12 it will need a good effort from Root, Ali and Buttler to get us a worthwhile lead.

Good ball from Kumar, in the corridor, and nicked to Dhoni.

140-5

Batting wicket my @rse !

Think this could be a close run match. I wouldn't want to have bought a ticket already for day 5.

Crikey! That was virtually unplayable from Aaron to Ali. Round the wicket, fast and late inswing. Smashed into the stumps.

170-6

Lunch Day 2

England 201-6 (62 overs)

88 runs, 3 wickets in 27 overs in the session.

Leading by 49 runs

Determined effort from Root 23 (60 balls) and Buttler 13 (33 balls) in the 35 mins before lunch.

More attritional batting needed after lunch - or can they put a bit of pressure on the Indian bowlers and build a decent lead?

Hopefully these two can carry on this good work and get us a nice lead.

The forecast isn't looking too great:

Friday - showers all afternoon
Saturday - should be ok, small chance of a shower
Sunday - washout
Monday - showers all day
