Especially those nice Villa fans who were throwing coins as the Bradford players near the end

I wasn't aware of that.

They were probably not chucking them at Bradford but are as accurate in their aim as the Villa players.
Bent's miss was ridiculous.

Out of interest, how many times in the last 20 years have we recorded a higher average attendance than Palace?

You'd have to work that out on percentage due to our lowly capacity at Withers.

The attendance Major was talking about was not Palace v Brighton but Bradford v Palace, what is wrong with reeling in a few Nigels?

Why? We rarely came close to selling it out, so I think a direct comparison with numbers is perfectly representative, afterall we seem so keen to compare direct numbers now we have the better stadium.

Google it, I'm sure it's not difficult... but you won't get a representation from our wilderness years... but feel free.

I thought one of our resident attendance Anoraks might be able to help me, I don't have a clue where to start looking for that kind of information.

First few seasons were sold out at least 90% of the time, that's more than 'Rarely'

The Nigels are already creaming themselves at the thought of beating Stoke in the replay and attracting a 20k crowd for the 4th round.

If they manage to beat Stoke at the Britannia that would be an exceptionally good result. They won't though. Stoke are just to good for them.

Here you go - year, ave gate, division, ground capacity change:

99/00 5733 95% 4 5000
00/01 6603 94% 4 6000
01/02 6598 94% 3
02/03 6651 95% 2
03/04 6248 89% 3
04/05 6426 92% 2
05/06 6802 85% 2 8000
06/07 6048 75% 3
07/08 5937 67% 3 8850
08/09 6092 68% 3
09/10 6467 73% 3

Nothing impressive about 67% capacity in a tiny stadium I'm afraid. Even in our last (title winning) season, we only reached 73% capacity, although I'm convinced 8,850 tickets (the official capacity of the time) were never made available even for the big games at the end of the season.

This attendance willy waving is a bit petty. Palace get shit gates because by today's standards, their ground is turd, much as was the case for us until 2 years ago. It really is that simple.

I'd say we get OK gates - over 17,000 for Hudds and Wolves - and better now that our form makes us worth watching. You're right about the stadium of course. That's why you've attracted and sustained excellent numbers over the past two years.

I'll repeat that our numbers aren't much worse than they've always been (14k-17k roughly). Even when we came 3rd in the top flight in 90/91 I don't think we averaged much more than 16/17k.

you might have noted that LEAGUE 2 Bradford Citys home attendance for the League Cup Semi-Final was higher than that managed by Palace, last season, for the same fixture.

It was also way higher than anything that "premiership chasing" Palace have managed this season.

Well done Bradford ! Great support !
Was it not also higher than ours V the Toon ?

But it gives a more accurate version of Brighton's attendances rather than 'averaging 7k' which is bloody obvious in a 7k stadia!

PS: I like willy waving and have yet to be caught.

Although the capacity was increased to 8,850 in 2007/2008 the dismal away support average meant 500 empty seats in the Worthing end and wasn't one of the piddly stands (stand k ?) with 150 seats unused again after a fire broke out ?
