Please look into the human rights abuses this dictator ruled over, if you want to look into facts. Yes, he improved some aspects of the Cuban's lives, but there were thousands who suffered as well.

Does that go for me too? I've read a LOT about human rights abuses in Cuba which have carried on all the way through his brutal regime and have concluded that the bloke was a horrible piece of work.

To be fair, in reality, it isn't really that black or white. Yes he was a nasty piece of work but he also did some good for SOME of the people of Cuba. I'm pretty meh about him / his death - I suspect things may have been a bit different if the US hadn't tried to keep meddling.

Putting Christians in prison for their beliefs is a communist trait and nothing to do with America. Russia also did a fair bit of meddling too, so both superpowers were as bad. In fact, Russia bankrolled Cuba for decades, and when their own economy collapsed, so did Cuba's 'prosperity'.
Russia didn't bank Cuba out of the goodness of their heart, but backed them because of the opportunity to place missiles right on the USA's doorstep.
Thank goodness for JFK who stood up to Kruschev.

As always with apologists, they don't ask themselves too many questions. Whilst he may well have brought some good things to the population, other countries like the meddling US, have similarly done so without the need for dictatorship.
