Favs:

Hand In Hand, Brighton (like someones front room, cosy and friendly with 'retro' Space Invaders video table)
Bristol Bar Kemp Town (lovely big windows, colonial feel)
North Laine (ex Gloucester nightclub, nice vibe, own brew).

If the food at The Basketmaker's is as expensive as their drinks it would have to be exceptionally good.

Is there a more overpriced Pub in Brighton to buy a pint of normal bitter?

It really is you know

Just dont believe there is a better place to have a pub lunch for a tenner in the whole of Brighton

Sad times re stanley, was my local for years just a sensational place

I'd back the usual suspects like the Lewes Arms, Selden Arms, and Basketmakers.
But possibly the best pub in the world which I visited last year, is The Square and Compass in Worth Matravers, near Swanage. Cider and ale served through a hatch from barrels, owned by the same family since 1900, only food home made pasties, view of the sea from the beer garden at the front with chickens circulating around your feet, geology museum attached, I could go on and on - utterly wonderful and unique.
