Family stand dilemma...

Yes, yet another thread! Pretty sure this hasn't been raised before...

Scenario:

I will be taking my 8 year old son to the Amex and the current intention has been to get two seats in the family stand.

Now...playing devil's advocate, let's say we are mega successful over the next 10 years. When he becomes categorised as an adult, naturally we wouldn't be able to sit in the family stand any more..so would those seats be instantly transferred to elsewhere in the ground.. or if there's a waiting list for ST would we simply be put at the bottom of the list?

I know i'm analysing it too much, but i've now got half a mind to pay extra and sit in the West stand with him from the start, just to guarantee a seat in 10 years time.

Yes I do have too much thinking time on my hands!

Add to that, You want to go to a game and your 8 year old does not.
Can you
a: Still sit in your seat on your own?
b: transfer your seat to another part of the stadium?
c: not be able to go either without purchasing another ticket.

I'm thinking along similar lines as my son is 5 and isn't going to go to every game. So if I wanted to go with a mate, I assume I have to transfer my seat to a different part of the stadium, and get an additional adult ticket in place of my son's ticket if available?

Then again, at £49 for U10's ST, it's still a no-brainer going into the family stand.

Surely you'd be at the top of the list as an existing STH?

Shirley he wouldn't be on the waiting list at all, he'd just be renewing his ST but in a different part of the ground.

Same deal for me with 7 & 4 year old but I'm keeping well away from the land of trumpets, balloons & gully ... Just a miserable sod who can't stand the racket! I would say you are reading too much into your predicament and need to worry about the in 8 years time.

Yes, but if the rest of the ground was full, he'd technically be on the list. But the likelihood is that some seats would become available at the end of each season and he would have first dibs on them.

I think it's fairly unlikely that we're going to have these problems, though.

You'll need to pay the difference on the day if you want a mate to have your son's seat; as happens now. I'd imagine if you kept doing it the club might question you but the odd occasion is ok as far as I'm aware

Indeed. Unless we suddenly climb into the top four of the Premiership within the next few seasons, I really can't see there being a problem getting seats in other parts of the ground. You've only got to watch the mid-table teams in the Prem on MoTD to see the rows and rows of empty seats.

Bought mine yesterday at the 12:30. me, wife & 5 year old. All west stand D block near back. Weighing it up against the family stand and the future I picked the future!

You know that is a good point! Did want east before I went yesterday - a toss up between East D and Family, but after taking everything into consideration I opted for the other side. Now in D nearest North stand. I was told at the presentaion that we are only the second group in and have the pick of 15000 seats baring those sold in the first presentation. I didn't think that was true as I was aware that some others being allowed to jump the queue early Jan. When I sat down and reviewed what was available it became obvious that way more than 160 seats had already gone.

Still having said that there are so many seats to go round every season ticket holder will get to sit at least near their prefered spot. A lot of people yesterday were using their +3 for existing season ticket holders and it seems most of those +3 were 9 yr plus as well. I think you will find that as the weeks progress less and less seats will be sold at the presentations because a lot of people attending will already have been bought a seat as part of a +3 and are there purely to see the presentation and stand on the viewing platform.

Better change my Avatar now then!

Thanks for this, I don't currently have an ST, so going to have to wait until all this priority nonsense is sorted out, but good to know you can do that occasionally and pay the difference for an adult to take the seat, as my 5 yr old won't be coming to many, if any evening games for a few years.

I know what you mean, but at the end of the day it's for the kids and they seem to love it. My 5 yr old would drive me even more potty at football if there weren't other kids to make friends with etc. Rather the balloons and racket than having to explain to him what 'f*ck off you cheating c*nt' (or whatever) means each week! Also agree that 8 years is too long to be worrying about what will happen in the future.

I've had similar dilema with my 5 and 8 year old and I'm going for the West Stand upper rather than the family stand.
