I am considering taking the trailer tent to the West coast having been told how good it is for camping.

You will not be disappointed we stayed in a huge campsite right by the beach and it was superb

I'm off to here in the morning..To be fair there are so many great places in France to go to and it depends what your interests are.

Bienvenue sur le site officiel de l'Office de tourisme de Moliets - Landes

Fly to Biarritz or Bordeaux or a longish drive. Will be at a friends House who has Sky Sports for the West Hame game on Monday evening.

We're just back from our first ever family holiday, abroad, to Menorca, as it went so well, we've already turn to next years trip.

As I spent last week thinking I was in France or French, a classic highlight amongst many:-

Me puede traer la cuenta, s'il vous plait.

We've decided to go to France, but where?

Our holiday destination is invariably France and this year we went to Corsica.

I would heartily recommend it for families - beaches are fantastic, sea so warm, lovely villages to visit in the north, almost guaranteed great weather. We all had a fantastic time. Connections to UK better than previously - think easyjet fly there.

Does get busy in high summer so we were told - we went end of August/beginning of September and it was fine.

If you prefer the mainland, I think Pays Basque is a beautiful region although the weather can be hit and miss. Safer bet might be area between Nimes and Sete.

Brittany is also brilliant for families.

If you choose anywhere within reasonable driving distance of Futuroscope and/or Le Grand Parc Puy Du Fou, visit them !, I promise you you won't be disappointed.

We went to both when we stayed in Olonne sur mer, in the Vendée region.

Another vote for the Vendee.
Got a family holiday home down there, and always great weather in the summer. Puy Du Fou, La Rochelle, Les Sables D'ollone/La Faute/La Tranche (for beaches) and the Marais Poitevin (Sp?) are all within an hour drive of where we are, and then you can go up to Noirmoutier for the waterpark.

Strongly recommend.

However last couple of years we've been down to south of Bordeaux for a few nights as a few days away from the norm, Dune du Pilat and the surrounding area is lovely, cannot recommend it enough.

Vendee for me - will be off there again next summer for our 9th consecutive summer holiday there with the family - wife and daughters of 8 and 9. Daughters decided that they wanted to go back again whilst in the ferry queue at Calais to come home from this year's hols and accommodation was booked within a week.

It is just about do-able in a day from Calais (about 660kms - 90%+ motorway), generally good weather and lots of nice beaches, towns and other attractions that we still haven't got tired of visiting. We were told on our first visit that if you take children to the "Puy du Fou" theme park at the age in primary school when they are starting to do history (Romans, Vikings etc) it would "blow their minds" - it did and the grown ups as well! A theme park totally bereft of white knuckle rides, and it works!

Try Welcome to Angela Bird's Vendee pages! for a good overview of the area - the natives are friendly!

France has it all IMO! Anywhere south or west of Paris is always worth a visit...Do bear in mind that the cost of living has risen dramatically over the last few years though and the toll charges and fuel costs make the country an expensive holiday these days!

Beautiful country and full of choice to keep everyone happy. Still not convinced about their food but there is a Maccy D in just about every town lol.
