Mile upon mile of rolling downland, fantastic views for miles around, magnificent oaks and rare flora and fauna everywhere you look, not to mention the herds of wilderbeast..............


You bastards, how could you even think of building a stadium in such a beautiful location!

Until I saw that picture I didn't quite realise what a shitty little bit of land all the fuss is about. AONB my arse!

The green field (top right) is outside the City boundary and (unlike the brown field) is not owned by the City Council. I believe it is owned by the Church Commissioners and there are incredible legal hoops to be jumped through when Church land is sold off.

From the western edge of the green field, the City boundary continues south in a straight line. Any development east of that line is in Lewes District and is subject to the Lewes Local Plan - so that would complicate the planning process enormously (as if it hasn't been complicated enough already).

The real problem with the stadium layout is that the pitch runs northwest to southeast. Which is "the North Stand"? The one behind the goal, like it was at the Goldstone. Or the one along the side of the pitch, like at Withdean?

These things matter. Or do we accept that this board might have to be renamed Northwest Stand Chat?

Another example of that Dick Knight not giving a toss about the fans, imho.

There is no doubt the site is a bit shitty. I always thought it was really a bit too shitty to put something so magnificent as a football stadium in.

But the sacrifices Albion fans have to put up with .....

Why I keep asking about the translucent roof and its importance is the shape of the shadow (if any) cast across the pitch depending on the alignment of the pitch and stadium (for the telly).
