It is has to be 7 degress C for the bats to come out. If there are any at Falmer (which I doubt because the farmers have chopped down all the trees, except for ash hedges with plastic bags tied to them) and unfortunately or fortunately (depending on taste) bats rather like football stadia (like belfreys) and they can fly around the stands.

Er, no. The alternative development approved for the site (in the old Brighton Borough Plan, which Mr Hoile doesn't want to see changed) is more University development. That would generate far more traffic movements on to the site and would disrupt Falmer Village throughout the week, not just on thirty occasions a year.

Incidentally, the priority for investment in higher education in Sussex has now shifted to Hastings. The loss of an opportunity for University expansion at Falmer is nothing to worry about.
