Convinced he’ll be the next Gyokeres in the sense of being allowed to leave on the cheap and then worth huge amounts in a couple of years. We seem to have a blind spot regarding this sort of out and out striker.
Mad take.

The kid has looked absolute dog shit for near on 2 years now. We’re one of the best teams in the world for bringing through young, genuine talent.

If we get anything for him at the moment I think it’s a bonus.

We don't play to his strengths.

Our wingers don't look to pick out a striker.

They play crosses into areas or try to pass through a defence.

He needs to be playing with Solly and Pascal again, to find his way back.

The goal he scored against Wolves was a classy, effortless finish.

He will be a superstar, when he's playing for a team looking to play for him.

We may not be that team.

If not, he needs to go.
We need to cover our arse with a massive sell on Clause

I was always of the belief we should have cashed in when his stock was sky high. In two years I see him as being worth 50 million or two million, loan him to Celtic where he should score a shed load then see where he is next summer I say.

Natural finisher.
He will look amazing in any team that are looking to play him in.

Mitoma, minteh and Pedro aren't that.

A well researched loan, will do wonders for his valuation.

I don't think it's a blind spot, I just think our managers have wanted a lot more out of a striker than just shooting. You look at the all round game of players such as Pedro, Rutter, Kostoulas and Tzimas and they are very different profiles to Ferguson who is much more like Chris Wood (but better at shooting).

That said, it appears Gyokeres has developed his game quite a lot since we sent him to Coventry. Ferguson could well do the same but he has been going backwards for the last 18 months which is the key problem here rather than his profile of being and out and out striker.
You’ve named two young players that we’ve not seen in a Brighton shirt as two of the players with more rounded games…

Indeed. There is data to support that. However, that does not mean they'll be able to perform to the highest level in the EPL but I have total trust in the club's recruitment team.

Lots to impress here but the ball carrying, dribbling and defensive workrate stick out for me as additional qualities not normally associated with a traditional out and out striker.

There was lots to suggest Ferguson was a rounded player under RDZ. There were numerous articles about how he was being asked to play as a pivot striker, dropping into the 10 role to build up play, for example.

I think the issue is he’s fallen off a cliff and none of us seem to know why.

He wasn’t just a Calvert-Diver type no 9, relying on high crosses from wingers. EF’s finishing had it all, often an instinctive early attempt (and goal) before the GK/defence were set. Are people thinking that because he’s tall?

Appears to be just a crazy form and confidence has completely gone off a cliff, possibly permanently.
