If your country is being bombed the **** out of and thousands of your population are being murdered, I wouldn't imagine winning the bloody Eurovision would even enter your thoughts. So don't patronise them and vote (as if) fairly. However there's another part of me that says let's give that poor country every bit of support we can, no matter how small. It is because of these mixed feelings that I shall not be commenting on this thread. I'm too cool for Eurovision anyway. (Hope we win though  )

We will be watching the Will Ferrell Eurovision film before the finals start tomorrow too.

If you have ever watched a few Eurovision nights, then the film is fantastic simple fun.

And of course Sigrit (Rachel McAdams) is utterly lovely

It's high camp glamorous entertainment. Perfect for getting Daily Mail readers in a proper froth.

I'm sure there's 'keeping up appearances' and Mrs Browns boys on another channel to cover.

FWLIW It's been broadcast in Aus for decades, a mate is a TV producer and works on it for their broadcast . . .says its hillariously good fun . . . no idea why Aus are allowed in ( he's Aussie) but who cares! we're allowed and we're not European.

My guess is the organisers didn't look at the world atlas to double check it and was an oversight

I’m quite glad Eurovision is on tonight.

I’ve been trying to find time to watch the latest Bond film, and this is the perfect opportunity.

Over long, couple of very good bits, but mostly dull and predictable, not as good as it was in the 60s but will please the obsessives . Sorry not sure which I'm talking about

Last I saw the UK entry was second in the betting?! No contest tonight though, obvious Ukraine will win regardless of the song.

Always a good bit of fun, can guarantee some ludicrous stuff will be popping off.

I thought it was close to shit, not a patch on Casino Royale, which was brilliant, on a par with Spectre imo but then I’m not a Bond worshipper

After a long long gap I’ll be watching Eurovision as my daughter, who is down for the weekend, has insisted and daughters always win with their dads

What makes me laugh is that every single year they say we have a great song and are in with a genuinely good chance of doing well :lolol:

Can't stand this year's song.

Give me 3 Eurovision songs that you like (and own) from the beginning of the competition by ANY country. I suggest you might struggle, they are all SHITE, it’s a given :lolol:

Eurovision isn't for everyone but I have always been pro-Europe and enjoy the spectacle.

This year it will be interesting to see the outcome. I can imagine Ukraine being mid-table with the judges but rising high up the table when the public vote is factored in.

Part of me hopes that if the public do vote with their heart then they may also include UK. I could see us picking up some sympathy points and finishing midtable - Poland, Ireland, Malta, Sweden, Finland etc.

Can't say I agree with that really. There have been some really good songs if pop music is your taste.

Ukraine 2/5 to win

won't even be a contest

Are those the odds for the war or the singing contest? Hope they win both - and ok it’s only a singing contest but I hope that they win Eurovision by a landslide as another message to Putin about how much he is despised.

Eurovision

Personally, I love the post-mortem we have every year after we do so appallingly. The target for the UK for me is always nil points but I’ve only had the excitement of this happening twice. Last year was glorious!

There was a lad on the wireless claiming that we’re one of the favourites and that we’ve finally learnt our lessons and produced a good song. This is, of course, all BS and we’re likely to finish at the bottom again because it’s all based on politics and most European countries (rightly) hate our guts.

So this will be another brilliant year for me if our apparent ‘favourite’ song does horrifically with Graham bemoaning the cruelty of the voters and not being able to fathom why no one votes for us (which should be pretty obvious to him being an Irishman).

I’m certain the UK will finish bottom 5 but I might not get my nil point dream tonight.
