I don't think England will get out of the group - there I have said it.
They have a very underated French team
The Co-Hosts Ukraine
A solid Sweden team

Just think they may struggle to get out.

I've said it already. The usual form is that we lose the first game, draw the second one amd need to win the third to qualify further - and fail to do so.

I'm going to go for the dark horses of Croatia to do well, there's always one team that surprises and for me they've got a lot of players who could do something

The Euros tends to be always a great few weeks of football. I already have £50 on Germany at 3-1; I think Netherlands are around 7's - good value. Spain, I agree with a previous comment about their style; Chelsea showed how to beat Barca; they'll be missing Puyol and no real great striker option as well.

Question - Spain are obviously going for a hat-trick of major wins; I'm 99.9% sure no other European side has ever done that before? I'm not sure about the likes of Brazil - knowing them they've probably won a Copa America-World Cup-Copa Amercia?? It would be a great achievement for Spain for sure.

As for England - no chance; will really struggle to get out of the group but you never know, fresh manager might just inspire us.

Gonna be tough. Thing is, an "easy" group doesn't seem to usually help England anyway, we just lower our performance level to the teams we're playing (Algeria, Slovenia).

I'm currently liking the look of:

Holland to win it @ 7/1

Llorente top scorer @ 20/1

Poland to win Group A @ 3/1

The euros - so what do we know?

Spain are the current champions and go into the tournament as favourites.
The Germans have built quite a team since 2008 where they were runners up. 2nd favourites.
Group A is a shit group. Group B is the group of death.
Portugal have the best player.
Ronaldo, Van Persie and Gomez score when they want.
Greece the complete underdogs won the competition in 2004.
Ireland have qualified for their first appearance in a major tournament since 2002 world cup.
France are being tipped as the dark horses for this tournament.
Rooney banned for 2 games for doing a joey Barton impression.
England haven't got to a semi final of a major tournament since 1996.
England don't do penalties... (except at club level)
The England manager has been in charge less than a month.
The Ukraine hooligans are racist and will be violent to any black English and have promised to hurt any white English fans who step out of line.

Bring on the euros :ascarf:

sweden aren't that great BUT they do have one of the most in form strikers in europe....ukraine will be tough especially as we're playing them in the final game....if they need a result to qualify then we really could struggle against them (i reckon ukraine have some MENTAL fans)

That last one makes me laugh out loud. Based on ONE game, yes, but it was genuinely woeful. Andy Carroll would've stuck at least 2 of those chances away. And he's shit.

Yep very concerned about that Ukraine game, the referee will be giving everything to them as hosts.

I do think England have there best chance ever, to do well, in the Euros.
That's not to say they'll even win a game.
But with only realistic expectations to contend with, a studious manager plotting the course, many key players at their last tournament and Champs League winners, best chance ever.

Spain aren't the force, Holland is a binfest waiting to go, France also have their limitations.
Obviously Gemany have previous when it comes to steaming into Poland and winning, but other than them, it's game on.

Eh? The 3 of them have been in great scoring form this season!

Ronaldo 46 league goals, 10 europe, 3 cup, 1 other, 6 international - total 66!
Van Persie 30 league goals, 5 Europe, 2 cup, 4 international - total 41!
Gomez 26 league goals, 13 continental, 2 cup, 2 international - total 43!

Figures from wiki.

Van Persie 30 league goals, 4 champs league goals, total 34
Gomez 26 league goals, 12 champs league goals, total 38

Not sure what they've score in the cups or internationally this season though...

I was referring specifically to Gomez' "performance" against Chelsea.

Bayern would have given up 10 of those goals if Gomez had stuck that great chance away against Chelsea.

It's all well and good scoring three against Freiburg or Hoffenheim but he didn't do it when it mattered. He has taken over from Pauleta as the Graham Hick of international football.

Best chance ever is going a bit far. At Euro 96, we were a post away (Anderton) and about 2 inches away (Gazza's stretch) from winning the whole thing. We would've utterly destroyed the Czechs in the final.

We COULD get as far as the semi's as I believe we're the 4th best team in the competition but I can't even see that..

I think there are 3 teams clearly some way better than the rest (Germany, Spain, Holland), then its anyone's for the final semi spot. Not much to choose from between:

Italy
France
England
Sweden
Russia

Fair point, the only time The Euro's have ever been a happy hunting ground for England.

And I believe we're better than them teams, although they aren't pushovers.

Based on what?

I'm not saying we're not, I was incredibly optimistic going into WC2010, but are we really better than Italy or France? We're missing a LOT of players, remember.
