Albion Rob said:As for the keeper - I hope Robinson can come through well at Spurs, otherwise it's got to be Kirkland. David James is a bit like Tim Flowers, not very good but the best around at this momet. When Robinson and Kirkland have matured they will both be excellent.
Albion Rob said:A lot of foreign keepers in the Premiership and it's the sort of position where we will pay the price because obviously there is only one goalkeeping slot and they very rarely get injured.
Look at the Premiership, how many sides have an English keeper as thir first choice? No more than five I would imagine.
Perhaps if we're lucky Kirkland and Robinson will be slugging it out in the way Clemence and Shilton did, with Richard Wright and Robert Green (who I thinbk is another excellent prospect) also there with a shout.
Not odd at all, when you consider that all but a couple of first choice keepers in the Premiership are foreigners now. In years to come we could have a similar crisis in the outfield as well, if the tidal wave of foreign nationals continue to swamp our top division at the current rate.Uncle Buck said:It is odd that we have tradtionally produced decent keepers and all of a sudden we have nothing decent between the age of 24 - 30.
Albion Rob said:He was pretty solid last year as well though. The sad reality is that there are so few English keepers about that any who plays regularly in the Premiership is never going to be more than about fifth in line!
Dover said:Can't (excuse spelling) Gudaccni (Chelsea keeper) play for England?
