It was an incredible match I don't remember a shot on goal then the little man knocked in two in the last few minutes,my mate was still talking about it weeks later and had he still been around would be now

RIP dougie

Happy memories.

Yeah, it was a crap game, and we didn't look like scoring - we were still playing deep and he scored from a couple of speedy solo breakaways. I always remember that game when I see people sneaking out early, so always stay to the bitter end.

(On the other hand, I remembered it as Villa or Wednesday!)

Defo Sunderland. We nicked it - undeserved- and I remember being stood next to a couple of Mackems on the East Terrace.
NEVER leave before the end!

He also scored a winning goal at the end of an away game at Blackburn that season, just before we played Spurs. Marvellous scenes, only bettered by the BRICKING we got from the Blackburn fans on the way back to the station!

Remember it well. Great game with both sides having loads of chances and Potts scoring late at our end. Have memory of Stavros getting us to pull the curtains down as the Seagull Special pulled out of the station as bricks were bouncing off the side of the train. We played Spurs the following Saturday.

Yep definitely Sunderland and the Spurs match was a laugh the fans were throwing cans on the pitch and one of their players was heading them back until he headed a full one and had to be carried off and also remember standing next to a Spurs fan who had come with an Albion scarf and on questioning lived in Brighton ....TWAT

After Saturday's last minute demise, it reminded me of a game against Spurs in late 70's or early 80s where we were outplayed for 89 minutes heading for a 1-0 defeat, when Eric Potts got 2 bizarre goals in the last minute. Both were from way out the right wing. Anyone else remember that? - or is it a figment of my deranged memory?

It was against Sunderland, quite a few of the Sunderland fans were mixed up with us on the East Terrace and we had a good laugh with them. I can't remember who their goalkeeper was but they all called him "the flying pig". At the end they were all sitting on the terracing, heads in their hands as they couldn't believe we'd beaten them.

:clap2:

As said by some above. Definitely Sunderland. Barry Siddall their keeper I think?

I was 12-13 years old in those days, the Spurs game scared the life out of me and I half didn't want us to go up in case all the big team's fans were like that. Morons.

Still thumped them 3-1 super Paul Clark solo set us on the way. Really trounced them in fact if I remember rightly.
