Trump stitches up the Kurds and takes credit for defeating Isis.
Erdogan at the first opportunity bombs the Kurds to try and make himself more popular in Turkey as his popularity is waning.
Politics eh.
What a total crock of shit.

the only bit of good news is this has split the republican party as there are a lot who think this move is totally out of order.

the repercussions on the Middle East and Europe are massive and shows exactly what the trump administration thinks off its 'close' allies.

Britain, France and Germany need to call this out and try to help even if it is for the selfish reason of not allowing ISIS to reform.

Not politics but some individuals who basically are corrupt.

But it is politics. All over the world moderate politicians are be thrown out of power and "strongmen" are being elected. They are looking after their jobs by acting in highly nationalistic and irresponsible ways and it's highly successful.

In many ways, I don't blame Erdogan, Trump, Johnson, the Italy or Hungary racist blokes. They are what they are, some by ideology, some by strategy. The point is that they never hid what they were, yet still millions of people have gone to the ballot boxes to put them there and keep them there. They are the ones responsible for the state of the world at the moment.

The Kurds need their own country. Their home lands were dissected when the Imperial powers divided up the Ottoman empire and split it between Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Iran.

They have been badly treated by their new overlords and deserve self determination as much as anyone else.

Bit like Israel then.
The west decided they should have their own country and then chaos followed.

The Kurds have been murdered by Iraq , fought for Syria and are now being murdered by Turkey.

politics is the process of deciding who gets what , politicians make the decisions. people decide which politicians they want based on how they say they will cut the cake up. i was probably being pedantic...

the point you make though is valid a lot of people seem to vote for these guys because they like the idea of a strong leader probably goes back to when we were apes...

Nothing like Israel, as it had existed previously, alongside the other Jewish country of Judea, and was conquered. Now it's free again. The "chaos" is simply caused by the Arabs not being able to accept their former dhimmis now have self-determination in their own country, and are doing markedly better than the surrounding Arab countries - so it's a mixture of intolerance and jealously on behalf of the Arabs.

There's never been a Kurdistan and the Kurds were screwed out of their homeland after WW1.

$3+billion in annual US aid is irrelevant I suppose? How's that Kool-Aid taste?

There we go, that's our big bezzie mate who's going to help dig us out of our Brexit hole right there.

Given the Americans never helped us against Napoleon in the Battle of Waterloo we should look for new friends going forward.

:lolol: He’s the kind of bezzie who’ll save up his biggest ever post session shit for when he comes around to drink one of your ice cold beers. Then he’ll let loose and block the bog up but then flush it again and watch with bewilderment as it spills all over the floor. Then says he has to go and ****s off (whilst grabbing another ice cold one from the fridge)

Brighton / Hove actually
I agree that there should be a safe zone for returning Sunni Syrians but this should have been a UN initiative using UN personnel with a no fly zone and border patrols. It's another failure on the UN's part and Turkey have taken advantage.

The Kurds are the largest population of a people who have no sovereignty of their land which is considered as bit of Iraq, Syria, Turkey and Iran.

Yes, as it's MILITARY AID which has to be spent on US HARDWARE only. That way both Israel and the US weapons manufacturers benefit over the course of the agreement. And this is why both sides of Congress are happy for this to continue. The Democrat Obama, who was about as anti-Israel as possible, even INCREASED the amount of the military aid given.
