This pair have put on 61 at 4.5 per over as they tuck in to the old ball. Graeme Swann is beginning to be missed very badly, not having a top class spinner is an impediment.

That has turned out to be a very good day for England, and captain Cook, including a hat-trick for Stuart Broad, and 5 for 64 for Liam Plunkett.

Very strange day, superb bowling but crap fielding and Sri Lanka could have been 170 all out.
Cook very lucky to still be at the crease, he will now no doubt make a double ton!
