From 83/5 to 283/8. "Two NIL, and you f*cked it up!"

This is great stuff from Bairstow and Finn.

Bairstow has cashed in on the old ball and they've both managed the strike really well. Good to see Finn batting properly and not throwing his wicket away.

Finn getting ideas above his station - pinching a single off the penultimate ball?!

Cricinfo in good form today: Which Father And Son Hold the Records for Most Test Runs ?" Well, that's easy. It's "Me-and-dad", innit!

But it's been the new ball since lunch

What a knock from The Ginger Keeper! Highest ever by an England No. 7 vs. Sri Lanka. EVER!

That will be the consesus you'd think but Bairstow at 7 seems to work.

At some point Compton is going to have to score big, though.

If Taylor had not had to quit, I suspect he would have gone in at 3 and Vince at 5 with Compton back to the shires.

Unfortunately circumstances meant that could not happen.

I am not sure who the next one off the rank is.

Also if Ali fails with the bowl there will be some pressure on his place as his batting does not seem to have recovered from opening in the UAE.

Rather expect Sri Lanka to struggle here. A & B with the swinging ball.
