I find it funny that alot of people "dont think Zamora is International material"...yet until he actually PLAYS at International level how can they/we be so sure he would fail? who's to say he wont bang in 2 goals a game against the top sides?

give him a go against Eygpt was a must IMO just to see what happens, its a friendly....its what they're used for!

I'm disapointed that Zamora didn't get a call up for this friendly against Egypt, i felt that his recent performances deserved it.

However, what i think has counted against him is that we are a 100 days from the start of the World Cup and that he has yet to make his international debut in the full England side.

Picking him now for the friendly could have had 2 results
1) he performed well, justifing his inclusion but it is just 1 game, players can have 1 good game but struggle in later matches and there isn't really the time to test him fully, meaning it would be a big risk to take him to South Africa. Also it isn't really long enough for him to demonstrate or build up a partnership with our other strikers, justifying his inclusion
2) he looks out of his depth, this would answer the question about whether he should be included, but as we are very limited for friendlies before the tournament starts, it reduces our preparation time for the side to build up an understanding. Experience counts at this stage.

We need to have a settled line up to give us the best chance, and the time for experimenting has now past, had it been a year to the World Cup, i think Zamora would have been called up given his current form.

How are SO many people still so THICK when it comes to Heskey? He's far more important to the England set up than Agbon or Crouch could ever be.
.

Against ANDORRA. Whoop de doo. Give me an example of a time he has played well against a good international defence.

Here, we go again.

Are all England's World Cup games against Brazil and Spain.

No. Remind me who is in the group again. Oh, yes that's right.

So it's 0-0 after 60 minutes against Algeria, and Plan A isn't working....

f*** me, is it Groundhog Day.? I'm not buying it, etc...

My point is people post his goal scoring record as evidence that he's any good, which really isn't far off what mine would be against the same "teams".

I would take him, but we can only use him in two games.

OK then. Give me an example of a time he has run a GOOD defence ragged

I'll say it quietly:

Peter Crouch is not very good. Capello agrees.

If Heskey and Crouch are both fit, Capello will NEVER pick Crouch ahead of Emile. I would bet any amount of money you want on that.

We are scoring plenty of goals, why fix something that isn't broken? Yes I would rather Crouch in a one on one situation (against a rubbish team, he wouldn't get the space against a defence with any brains) but Emile is more likely to "create" space and goals for the likes of Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard etc, so I'd still rather him on the pitch at 1-0 down with 60 mins to go.

Otherwise, I'd bring on Defoe.

Crouch's goals have not all been against Andorra, have they? Last time I saw England live was the qualifier against Ukraine at Wembley. Crouch played very well, and scored that night.

He IS a good OPTION. I know that, Capello knows that, and you know that.

Heskey is first choice alongside Rooney, and rightly so, but we have to have options, particularly for the eventuality that ROONEY is missing for any reason.
