[Music] Electronic/Dance Music

Hmm whilst I was initially upset to hear about Morillos passing it’s come to light that he was clearly a rapist. I think calling him the main man is a bit distasteful to be honest.

Whilst I agree he clearly had some big problems going on in his life and he wasn’t found guilty, although evidence suggests he probably would have been, we are remembering his music here which bought people together. That’s the positives we can take from this tragedy. I’m not here fo remember him for his demons or what he was like as a person. Carl cox etc have all said the same. He was the main man when playing to thousands in space in Ibiza and when he initially because world famous on the dance music stage.

Anyway. This thread is about music, nothing negative.

It has been quiet, indeed, felt a bit Meh this week if I'm honest. Really missing live music and I am very worried for the future of our culture enriching venues...sign the petition.

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/332789

It'll help get this debated and hopefully end in help from the Government. But they are a bunch of ***** so probably won't get anything....I sincerely hope I'm very wrong.

I'm sure many will disagree that my taste in music is a pleasure to listen to, but it's given me much pleasure over the past 30+ years. I started listening to underground music back in the late 80's, acid house, then jungle techno, then happy hardcore and jungle, drum n bass etc. I always had a soft spot for the harder side of music and Lenny Dee was the first DJ to really introduce me to Gabba. That evolved into hardcore and became so many different sub genre's. Terrorcore, speedcore, uptempo, industrial, mainstream hardcore etc.
Uptempo is usually my go to genre as it's what I would my Goldilocks hardcore, not too slow, not too fast, but hard. The below track is one of my current favourites but not as hard as I usually go for, it's pretty tame.
Enjoy, or don't, probably.

used to love my gabba back in the day but more the hard german stuff vs the dutch stuff which i found to poppy if that makes sense . Lenny Dee was my fave too back in the day along with colin Dale. Still like my hard stuff which shocks people as im 50 and living in New Zealand for the last 4 years who have never heard anything like that !

Yeah, the Dutch stuff could be a little too mainstream as you say, even now I tend to steer clear of the poppy stuff, it's too much like cheesy happy hardcore and aimed at kids. Definitely the harder stuff that makes you screw your face up and clench your fist is what I go for.
I've managed to get a couple of guys at work into hardcore, they were both into death metal before so the transition was easier, they both seem to prefer frenchcore though which is really surprising as it's really timid compared to most hardcore. Softer kicks and more melodic.
