Assuming El Abd is fit to play next week, would you bring him back in for Elphick?

I feel rather mean to Elphick for saying it, but I think I would.

No, Elphick is much more comfortable on the ball and I think Peterborough will play the ball on the floor a lot

Do you think so? I'm a bit surprised as I would have said El Abd is the better of the two on the ground and Elphick better in the air. Although both are reasonably quick covering ground, considering he is a musclebound lump I reckon El Abd can turn quicker than Elph too which is going to be important and this season he has looked a more comfortable passer of the ball.

That said against a team as mobile as Posh I think Elph may be the more likely of the two to stay on the pitch for 90 minutes (which is to say the less likely to jump in rashly).

Tough call for Gus whatever.

El Abd has gone from a poor player to an average one (last season) to actually being a good player. He is fairly decent on the ball and reasonable in the air for his height. But most of all he's learnt to be really aggressive without giving away fouls all the time. Not a lot has got past him at all this year.

Elphick, on the other hand, has done ok, but I'm nowhere near as convinced by him.

I think that's about it. ElAbd has improved massively under Gus while Elphick (for me at least) started with more natural talent but hasn't progressed as much so far.

and I honestly never thought I would be saying that!

I would agree that El Abd is the better of the two on the ground with both his tackling and short ball distribution. I do not think that there is much to choose in the air but would rate Elphick slightly better. This season El Abd has been a revelation.
