It's a difficult one with El Abd. On the one hand he needs time to settle in but before Poyet came along, he was criticised by many on here as not good enough for us when we were in a similar position to Bristol City. The reaction on here when Poyet said he saw El Abd was a key player was incredible, with a lot of people calling it ridiculous.

Sometimes players struggle after leaving a club after many years. Really hope that doesn't happen to El Abd as he was a great servant for Albion and deserves to have a good rest of his career.

Pretty much this. Strange how he was so often called a donkey on here in years past, but whenever asked to move up a level, he always managed to get there! Sorry to see him go - best of luck to him, though. Hope we don't get Bristol City in the cups for the next few years!

I don't know about his second game for Brizzle but on his debut they played him on the left hand side of a central defensive three. Considering he had only been there for a day or two it was probably expecting a bit much for him to fit seamlessly into a new system with strangers for team-mates. Stick him in a two with a taller partner and he will do well for them.
