The pubs along Seaside are awesome, but for the more discerning drinker may I reccomend The Rum Runner, a mere 15 minute walk from the ground and a stabbing chucked in with every pint.

Where the hell is the Rum Runner?

How is it miles STEVEN?

Stagger out of there with a knife wound, a hop, skip and jump along Seaside and suddenly you're at the White Hart. A few paces on and Channel View Road appears on your right and you can see the 'majestic' floodlights from there.

You ought to drink in that place that used to be The Golden Gloves.

Please don't beat me up tonight for being an away fan.

Who is coming down the world famous Oval tonight to watch some of the United bruisers try to make up for their lack of ability by kicking our youngsters all over the place.

I hate that club, so I'm predicting 8-0 to the Albion.

Surely you mean Eastbourne United Association? They merged with Shinewater Association recently.

I'm very glad my darts team has folded because 2 trips a year to Eastbourne United in deepest, darkest winter are not nice. I swear it's colder inside the clubhouse than out.

I'm going to make sure there's a proper welcoming commitee coming up from the shadows of The Archery tonight. You boys better watch out. :glare:

The Castle is what was the Golden Gloves used to be. Still looks rough as arseholes.

Wasn't it the Castle before being the Golden Gloves? One of the few pubs in Eastbourne I've never been in.

Pretty sure it's called The Castle now but not 100% on that. Went to the restaurant once and it was actually alright, but never drank in the pub bit other than that. I only live a ten minute walk from The Archery (nearer to town it must be pointed out) and very rarely venture down that way.

ROBERT, you still haven't said what time you're getting down there. I would text you but you won't get it until Sunday. :jester:

Hmmm I think in the vicinity of the ground i'd actually head the other way to Tescos. Neither are my faves but at least the Arlington Arms & Alexander Arms aren't dog rough.

Ah, yes, STEVEN, I forgot. I'm knocking off work at 5pm, so will be back in the 'Bourne by 6pm. Am contemplating walking from my gaff near the Saffs, so would be available from drinks from around 7pm.

The Bassett firm will be in attendance to bowl you little Eastbourne boys over.

What time and where do you want to meet?

That's quite correct, I covered the last ever Shine game for the Herald when I was there.

It struck me as a bit of a cop out though, everyone drops the AFC bit, so Shine basically folded rather than merged.

I agree about United being a depressing place. Hard to believe they used to be the town's premier side, got fairly high in the pyramid and had the likes of Eddie Woods playing for them in successive Sussex Senior Cup finals. Complaceney throughout the eighties adn lack of council funding have hit them hard.

I should be back at the station by half six, so will probably jump straight on a bus down to Seaside. Are you going to be with anyone where I can catch you up?

f*** it, I think I'll drive as it will be a long, cold walk home afterwards.

Give me a buzz if you want a lift the full 150 yards you need to get there as I'm not sure what time people are getting there. Do you fancy drinking in the clubhouse or one of the hostelries around the magical ampitheatre.

I'm going to aim to be in the area for about 7pm.

Albion players have been told to wear their wellies for this one apparently. That brings back memories of playing football down on the Malling Brooks in Lewes when I was a kid. The whole field was squelchy from October to March.

I can't go, but will someone please tell me whether they comply with this request? A picture would be even better!

Albion players would be advised to wear STEEL wellies as most SSC games are just an excuse to legally kick shit out of an Albion player.
