Sussex but not by the sea
I have no issue with what they do with their lives. Meghan is a Hollywood B list who is desperate to become A list and found a way to achieve that through marrying one of the most famous men in the western world. She is acting like a Hollywood diva/player because she now is one.

However I do think that the Sussex titles should be removed. They now do nothing for Sussex (have they ever done?) or arguably even for this country, so why should they continue to be allowed to use it and I presume gain from it?

Totally agree with your second paragraph. They should be stripped of their Royal titles if they no longer wish to work for "the firm". The way they are behaving and the disrespect they have shown to HM means they are, IMO, a slight, a slur and an embarrassment to the great county of Sussex, the Kingdom of the South Saxons.

I suspect the issue is to do with people's sense of expectation and entitlement as to how they think people should act and says more about them than Harry and Meghan: the vitriol and condemnation of Harry and Meghan seems totally disproportionate to any offence they actually could have caused by their actions, especially taking into account public figures who have objectively done far worse but don't get even a fraction of the disdain or abuse.

Their lives have zero impact on me or anyone I know except probably in positive ways because of the work they have done with veterans and talking about mental health. That they have left the royal family and the way it was done is unfortunate, but I can't particularly sympathise with the royal family either all things considered. Having watched a few minutes of the clip above it's not my kind of thing but I don't see the problem with it. If anything well done Meghan for not being cowed by the inevitable backlash this'll get (far more than any support it'll get) - I can see how others might have a problem with it though if they think they have a right to dictate or have their expectations met as to how someone else lives. I'm genuinely not sure why so many find them offensive when there are far more worthy focuses for anger whose actions and deceit has a far greater daily impact on us all.

Because she went on a tv show of course

I think its because many believe Meghan is just an ambitious actress who has used her association with Harry for her own ends. There's a lot of hypocrisy in what she does and her association with the Royal Family allows her to maintain a high profile.

Rightly or wrongly, many in this country are very proud of the Queen and whilst other members of the Firm may be considered a waste of space, we don't like our national institutions to be exploited the way she does it. Having spent some time living in the US, I can tell you that many Americans have an unhealthy obsession with our Royal Family and that is something which Meghan is exploiting ruthlessly. I'm no fan of our royals but I don't like this.

Everything she and Harry do seems carefully choreographed to manage their media profile. You say she'll get a backlash - maybe here, but certainly not in the US. She's still the commoner who married a Prince there.

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex start having any effect on my life, at all, maybe I’ll start getting offended with their supposed disrespect. Until then, I just can’t get that angry.

I did notice at the Cenotaph on Sunday that the only 2 Royals who’d actually earned their medals, were both on the naughty step and not allowed to be present.

Our Meg who 'forgot' she had briefed her Communications Director what to say to the authors of 'Finding Freedom' which both her and Harry denied having anything to do with.

I totally see what you're saying and understand where you're coming from, everything any celebrity or royal does is carefully choreographed to manage their media profile though. And any royal only has a high profile because of their association with the royal family. The only difference I can see is that Harry and Meghan are openly commercial about the way they make use of their connections and privilege where the other royals are discrete about how they monetise it. It seems it's that behaviour is what upsets people, and I'm just not comfortable with that expectation they have to behave a certain way. Who decides that? And why does anyone have the right to expect it? And do we hold other royals to the same standards of behaviour (no we don't)? We don't even pay Harry and Meghan anymore - they explicitly forfeited the right to UK taxpayer income in return for freedom from expectation, and the only title they use is one they were given, and that has restrictions on commercialising it.

I'm not bothered by them or the royals but I respect Harry and Meghan being open about how they make money more than not. You have to look quite hard to find out that if you die without a will in Cornwall the money goes to Charles because of some ancient Duchy law (he's made 7 figures from this just in the past couple of years), on top of the £20 million a year (after costs) income from his estate he was given, plus the sovereign list. It's all exploitation of connections to royalty - some do it through deals with Netflix, some do it through capitalising on a system of tenant farmers and restrictive land practices that's enshrined an unbreakable privilege for 800 years. It's purely opinion whether one is more offensive than the other, but I don't think the derision the Sussexes get is deserved. I also don't expect to convince anyone otherwise :)

Meghan Markle could be stopped from being President by rule made for Napoleon's brother

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, 40, could be prevented from running for president over a 211-year-old constitutional amendment originally proposed to stop Napoleon's brother from seeking power

The Duchess of Sussex has never publicly said she would want to run for office. but has been contacting US politicians to lobby for paid leave and also encouraged Americans to vote.

Biographers say it is "possible" she may one day run for office as one says she is the "embodiment of the American dream".

She has a talent for anything she turns her hand to, so I dare say she'd make a very good President but I would much prefer her and Harry to return to the UK and return to our family over here, as I am sure many many millions of others would.

I agree, I would love to see them as judges on Strictly or maybe even do that I'm a celebrity malarkey.

Now Meghan tries to trademark the word 'archetypes': Duchess bids to stop anyone else using the word -which first appeared in the English language 470 years ago - after deciding to use it for the title of her Spotify podcast

That's not how trademarks work. They are limited for very specific uses. Wrestling companies trademark words and phrases all the time, but for specific things. AEW recently applied to trademark 'blood & guts'. but had to specifiy the things such as specific items and areas it applies (it specifically applies to ongoing televised wrestling entertainment, and only in marking purposes, so WWE can say 'blood and guts' in promos or on commentary etc but they can't use the term on their merchandise or promotional material).

If 'archetypes' is trademarked, there will be specific areas that can't use it (often to prevent knock-off merchandise, rival companies) - stopping other companies trying to glom off them/their name/their brand etc by doing the same thiing and calling themselves 'New Archetypes'.

It's a nothing story made to be more of a thing to whip up it's readership into a pointless anger against someone they don't like because... reasons.

The Duke of Sussex described Her Majesty The Queen was in 'great form' last week when he popped in for a surprise visit with the Duchess of Sussex and to check her well being and vetted the people around her to ensure she is protected.

Great to see them getting on and Mrs Crodo and I sincerely hope they accept the Queens invitation to her Jubilee celebrations in June.
