I've seen it, but I didn't really get it. I was drinking as well. I think I'll view it again without the drinks, and see if it makes more sense.

Spooky bunny.

The Guardian Guide did a top 5 confusing films feature. Donnie Darko was numero uno. Not sure you're meant to understand it if you know what i mean, I think the idea is that you are left questioning yourself and what the film meant to YOU.

At the end DD uses what he's learned from the old mad lady and the book she wrote to rewind time and change the chain of events leading to his girlfriends death.

Thats exactly how I saw it, but if you look around the net there are some truly off the wall theories that involve parallel universes and the end of the world etc.

Also if you want to visit one truly bizarre website go to the Donnie Darko official site.

It's a good film. I saw it not knowing much about it. As I was watching it I kept changing my mind, was he mentally ill or was it a film about time travel.

Best film i seen this year apart from Spirited Away possibly.

I'm with Mr V. That is why you see the jet engine fall through the roof early on.

And whilst we're on the subject of top films, I also share Mr V's apparent admiration of Cidade de deus.

nah... from what i gathered, he was in fact stuck in an infinite loop in time; his insanity allowed him to remember memories from the future, obviously not vividly, but as the "evil rabbit" (as that was from a significant moment in the future).

or something.

that's how i saw it too.....

Also well worth trawling through the extras on the DVD where you get to read the mad woman's theory of time travel which sort of explains a lot of Donnie Darko.

Donnie Darko is a brilliant film - I didn't find it confusing at all. Shame the soundtrack album is terrible - only has Mad World on it, none of the other decent songs

Has anyone seen Dancer in the Dark starring Bjork? It's absolutely brilliant, and Bjork is stunning in it. It was her first role & was unbelievable
